Today, we recommend a recent webinar organized by CAMAG and Nammex: Organic Mushroom Extracts. Prof. Dr. Melanie Broszat and Coleton Windsor introduced a fit-for-purpose, validated HPTLC method that helps to authenticate several fungal species and thus address industry concerns over mislabeling and product efficacy. The webinar lets you find out how this new technique was specifically designed for the identification of multiple fungal species and gain insights into composition and quality differences between commercially available fungal products: https://lnkd.in/gahd9Mri

Which non-food crop is one of world’s most extensively cultivated? You guessed it right. It’s tobacco. The tobacco plant is relatively young in terms of evolution and belongs to the Solanaceae (nightshade) family with its other members being bell pepper, tomato, and potato. When it comes to our research, we have focused on finding ways of lowering the levels of harmful tobacco-specific nitrosamines and other harmful compounds in tobacco. Discover the evolution of tobacco plant research. ⬇️ #TobaccoPlant #TobaccoResearch #TobaccoFact #TobaccoHistory #TobaccoGenetics

Our wine grape cultivation results on soil biology are in from Biome Makers Inc., a leader in assessing soil health at scale [6/63 - 2024 results] ✅ 🔬 Trial Details: From March to October 2024, we tested StimBlue+ on microbial pathways essential for wine grape development 🍇. 📣 Why this matters for Farmers: In countries navigating strict nitrogen regulations, like The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, England - but also the USA, New Zealand, Australia, these findings bring promising solutions. Key Findings 🌱 ✅ 55% yield increase: StimBlue+ significantly enhances nitrogen use efficiency in the soil. ✅ +200% nitrogen pathway activity: Enhanced nitrogen use efficiency in the soil through microbial activation. ✅ Reduced fertilizer dependency: By optimizing the soil microbiome, it supports a shift away from synthetic fertilizers. ✅ +3.5% Calcium Mobility: StimBlue+ boosted calcium availability, critical for plant health and fruit quality. ✅ Natural Pest Protection: StimBlue+ increased populations of microbes that act as natural insecticides and nematicides. 👉 Reach out to us via the website if you haven't tested StimBlue+ on your grape cultivation yet: https://lnkd.in/ebJ89_wZ 📩 👉 Curious to know more? Join our webinar discussing the results of this trial on December 2nd, together with Juan Rébori from Biome Makers Inc.: https://lnkd.in/esyaWtmq 🎙️ Want to read the full report? A new trial has demonstrated how the BioStart Organic biostimulant programme improves soil biology. In the trial a kiwifruit orchard converting to organics treated a block with the Biostart organic programme and compared it with their standard organic conversion block over a 3-year period. Soil Food Web testing showed the following results: • Active and total fungi levels both increased 5-fold in the Biostart-treated block vs active levels doubling in the standard block but total fungi levels halved. • Active and total bacteria levels had doubled in the Biostart-treated block, whereas active bacteria levels remained similar for the standard block and the total bacteria levels halved. • Endo-mycorrhizal levels increased from 0.2% to 33% in the Biostart block vs only reaching 17% in the standard block. • There was a big lift in protozoa in the Biostart-treated block which positively impacts nitrogen cycling ability. A good microbial balance improves nutrient availability and overall soil health, which led to the following improvements in soil chemistry, shown below. The programme: Biostart N with Organic Mycorrcin at budbreak, Organic Mycorrcin and Foliacin applied over the growing season, and Organic Digester in autumn. Reishi mushroom has been revered in China for thousands of years. It is depicted in many Chinese works of art and is utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Today it is widely cultivated using a method of wood log cultivation in shade houses. Scientific research into the compounds responsible for Reishi mushroom activity began in the 1960’s in China and Japan. Scientists discovered highly active beta-(1-3)-glucans with the ability to potentiate innate immunity by activating immune cells. Also discovered were secondary metabolites called triterpenoids which were present in significant amounts and sets Reishi apart from all the other medicinal mushrooms. In 1996, CEO and Founder of Nammex, Jeff Chilton organized organic mushroom production in China. That initiative paid off and today all Nammex mushrooms are grown or wildcrafted deep in the mountains of China by our Certified Organic production partners. #reishi #mushrooms #shade #china #cultivation #organic #organicmushrooms #mushroomextracts
