Have you read the Employee Advocacy Benchmark Report yet? Something that stood out to me is the pretty dramatic shift in how program managers demonstrate program ROI and attribute results. In fact, 61% of contributors shared that they don’t track the cost-per-click (CPC) of employee shares at all. It’s all part of a bigger trend: 🔸 24% of organizations cite brand awareness as their main objective. 🔸 52% see increased brand visibility as the biggest benefit of employee advocacy. 🔸 45% plan to foster a culture of sharing and collaboration in their wider organization. This all indicates that employee advocacy is evolving into a long-term branding strategy. Why does your organization need an employee advocacy program? Organizations that get this right will reap the benefits of being an employer of choice in a highly-contested market that is in short supply of the skills required for success. An employee advocacy program, also referred to as employee ambassador program, identifies internal brand advocates who actively and purposefully share authentic employee content to a targeted audience to create visibility and awareness of your organization as an employer. The intention is to: 1. share lived experiences, 2. show prospective talent who they will be working with, 3. and glimpse the type of projects the talent would be involved in. Employee Advocacy has 4 building blocks - Community, Content, Channels and Communications. Even though this is new territory for many organizations, structured and well-positioned employee advocacy programs with a clear purpose and impact aligning the target community, content, and channels have the potential to increase the credibility and attractiveness of the employer. Your CEO should be part of your employee advocacy program. Why? Because they wield both internal and external influence. Let’s break it down 👇 1️⃣ Internal influence When the leadership team is active on LinkedIn, employees take notice. It reinforces that employee advocacy isn't just a marketing initiative but part of your company culture. Leading by example is the best way to motivate your team to get involved. 2️⃣ External influence It’s no secret that CEOs are seen as public figures. Many people now expect a CEO to maintain an active social media presence. Executives often have extensive networks and considerable influence in the professional world. This can significantly boost your program's reach and results. Our own research at DSMN8 revealed that a CEO with just 5,000 followers can generate the same engagement as a company page with over 300,000 followers! #SocialMediaStrategy #ExecutiveInfluence #EmployeeAdvocacy
