As a prior SDR and SDR Manager, I've been thinking a lot about the future of the role and wrote some of my thoughts out. Would love to hear from other folks on how they are thinking through AI and the future of the SDR role. One idea i've been mulling over is specializing the role, think "Special Agent" research SDRs paired with a "Relationship Rep" outbound SDR. This is right on the money, couldn't have said it better myself! Breaking down the SDR function into research and relationship-building roles would allow teams to streamline workflows w/ AI, create more focus (which leads to better personalization) and collaboration across the greater sales team, and ultimately drive more qualified meetings and a stronger sales process.
