Step into the real world of Premier League stars showcasing mental #resilience, courtesy of VSS (Virtual Soccer Schools). Once again, our innovative charitable virtual platform provided young graduates from Behind Every Kick with the remarkable opportunity to engage with none other than Fulham Football Club's midfield powerhouse, Harrison Reed. In his VSS debut, Harrison didn't just impart football insights; he shared life lessons. From #motivation to #teamwork, #confidence to handling #pressure, his seasoned #wisdom left us all inspired. Harrison took us on a journey from Southampton's academy to Norwich and Blackburn, revealing the challenges he faced and the resilience he built along the way. His words struck a chord, resonating with every aspiring footballer. His invaluable advice on coping with pressure and seeking trusted guidance resonated deeply. And his reminder that setbacks fuel determination served as a powerful motivator. In the closing moments, Harrison's openness about self-care underscored the importance of balance both on and off the pitch. Thanks to VSS and Behind Every Kick, young football enthusiasts like Austin, Andrei, Lucas, and Shifa got a front-row seat to the elite #mindset of a Premier League star. Harrison's words weren't just motivational; they were life-changing. As the founder of VSS, witnessing these interactions reaffirms our mission – to #empower #inpsire #educate the next generation, not just in football, but in life. A huge thank you to VSS (Virtual Soccer Schools) for a brilliant question and answer session yesterday afternoon where young people who have completed our programme got to put their burning questions to Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed. Both the questions they asked and Harrison's fantastically open and honest answers were utterly inspiring. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eSRx-DiS

The commitment to elevate Basketball in the UK to unprecedented heights across the nation is indeed commendable. However, to truly capitalize on this momentum and raise awareness effectively, we must address a critical shortfall—a robust foundational support for basketball in the UK. Your observations regarding the current state of basketball infrastructure are spot on. Despite the burgeoning interest and willingness from organizations like the British Basketball Federation (BBF) to foster the sport, our foundational structures remain woefully inadequate. Conversations with young enthusiasts, like the 13-year-old aspiring to play professionally, highlight a glaring issue: a significant lack of support at the grassroots level. Schools, often the nurseries of budding talent, predominantly favor football, sidelining basketball both in terms of interest and resource allocation. This bias extends beyond school premises, reflecting in our community planning as well. The absence of accessible basketball courts, where the nearest facility requires a 45-minute travel for just an hour of play, speaks volumes about the oversight in urban and community planning. Moreover, the scarcity of qualified coaches further stifles the growth and professional grooming of potential talent. While the willingness of entities like the BBF to initiate change is a positive sign, it is imperative that we first strengthen our foundation. This involves not just creating but also actively promoting accessible basketball infrastructure in schools and local communities. Councils must be encouraged to invest in local sports facilities, ensuring that basketball courts become as commonplace as football pitches. Let's rally to build a strong foundation for basketball in the UK, ensuring that the sport receives the support it rightfully deserves at every level. Only then can we truly harness the collective strength found in unity and propel UK basketball to new heights.
We’re working closer than ever with Basketball England, basketballscotland and Basketball Wales - Pel Fasged Cyf to establish a fresh approach to improving and growing basketball in Britain 🤝🏀🇬🇧 Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gvt9Jsx9 #GBbasketball

Recently I have taken the time to reflect on a very important question. Q: What do you do when you have accomplished all of your goals? A: Set new ones! Your goals in life and Business can adapt and grow the same as you. I am someone who can say I am blessed to have been able to accomplish all of the task I have set out to accomplish. Not because I am better than anyone else or because I have had better opportunities. The Key to my success is simple….. If The Creator set it in front of me, I have already committed to doing the work necessary to complete it. No matter the task, the goal, the work, the barrier, or the project I have already made my mind up that NOTHING CAN or WILL stop me from what The Creator has Requested.

I have witnessed this first hand, it actually contributed to my son stopping playing soccer at 12. The final straw was the coaches yelling at teen age refs in multiple rec games. Coaches behavior has such an impact on kids. I always ask coaches I work with 2 questions: 1. What do you think it is like to be coached by you and 2. Now that the game is over, was that the best way to handle it and how could you have done it differently to model respect, control and good sportsmanship. Depending on their answers we can formulate a coaching plan to help in game responing rather than reacting. During and after that season, I spent a lot of time talking with my son about how he felt and how things could have been handled differently. It was a good learning experience and actually was a big reason I started to focus on working with youth athletes and coaches on mental performance. Organizations have a long way to go on educating coaches and parents on these issues - it starts with self awareness and willingness to want to show up differently. Thank you for highlighting it.

The game of football is evolving at the youth and high school level with the introduction of club football in Colorado and across the country. As we talked about during the latest episode of #WellnessWednesday, how much football is TOO MUCH football? These are the decisions we have to think about when getting the next generation ready to play the game 🏈 #youthsports #footballlife #COPreps #mentalhealthmatters #youthathletedevelopment #burnoutprevention #sportspsychology #healthycompetition #youthfootball #highschoolfootball
