IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO DONATE! https://lnkd.in/eGt3KDMG ---------------------------------------------- The reality of youth homelessness is all around us. There are more than 4 million youth without homes in the U.S. In Georgia, across the state, the number is greater than 35,000. The reasons are many. Poverty is a major factor. Affordable housing is another. Conflict within families or even violence can lead to young people leaving home. Also, the process of aging out of foster care at 18 often leads to homelessness. Whatever the reason, the problem is real. The Advocates Flowering Branch Children’s Center, our RISE Youth Independent Housing program, and the new Newman House with a Drop-In Center are all focused on alleviating the problem of young people at-risk of homelessness. Currently more than 180 young people in our communities are being helped by our housing programs. Hundreds more have benefitted in the past, and more than 80% of the youth who have completed our programs are no longer at-risk but are living independently with stable housing and on the road to a secure and stable future. This Giving Tuesday, your support of Advocates means that young people at-risk of homelessness will have greater opportunities to put the threat of homelessness behind them.

"Every Child Deserves a Better Tomorrow" We often witness heartbreaking scenes where orphaned children, filled with hope and hunger, search for leftover food to survive. This is a harsh reality that none of us should ignore. Imagine the difference we can make if we step up to provide fresh, nutritious meals to these children instead of letting them rely on discarded scraps. Small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact on their lives, ensuring they grow up with dignity and health. Let us take a moment to reflect on our responsibilities as a society. If we have the ability to help, let’s act! Support an orphanage, volunteer, or simply share a meal with a child in need. Together, we can bring a positive change. Let’s nurture a world where no child goes hungry or feels abandoned. #OrphanCare #SocialResponsibility #EndChildHunger

In the UK, 1 in 5 children experience domestic abuse within their homes. Yet, much like adult victims, many children remain silent due to fear, confusion, and lack of access to help. Child abuse isn’t just physical—it can involve emotional neglect, verbal abuse, and exposure to domestic violence, all of which can have lifelong consequences. When a child reveals they are witnessing abuse, every response is crucial. Stay calm, listen attentively without interruption, and offer reassurance. Avoid promising secrecy, as reporting the abuse is vital to protecting the child. If you or a child you know is experiencing or has witnessed domestic abuse, please contact NSPCC at 0808 800 5000 or Childline at 0800 1111. In an emergency, always call 999 At Bertha’s Legacy, we are dedicated to supporting children and families affected by abuse, working through direct intervention and community education to ensure every child can grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Your involvement can make a lasting difference—whether through volunteering or donating to provide critical resources for children escaping abuse and survivors in need. By raising awareness and supporting vulnerable families, we help break the cycles of abuse and build stronger, healthier communities. "One in four parents struggled to provide sufficient food for their child in the past 12 months." Patrick, from our policy team, explains what we need from policymakers to protect families: 1️⃣ Establish a long-term plan for local crisis support after the Household Support Fund ends in March 2025. 2️⃣ Remove the two-child limit in Social Security, which disproportionately impacts larger families. 3️⃣ Implement an Essentials Guarantee in Universal Credit to ensure families can afford necessities like food and fuel. 4️⃣ Extend free school meals to all primary school children. 5️⃣ Address holiday hunger by continuing the Holiday Activities and Food Programme beyond March 2025. We need decisive action now to create a fairer future for all children. #EndChildPoverty #SocialPolicy
