Key components of UAV - ESC Electronic Speed Controller, or ESC for short. The motor provides power to the drone, and the ESC controls the motor speed to adjust the power output by receiving instructions from the flight control motherboard, thereby controlling the flight speed, direction and attitude of the drone. ESC is one of the important components of the UAV power system. It is also divided into brush ESC and brushless ESC. Brush motors are suitable for brush ESCs, and brushless motors are suitable for brushless ESCs. Classification of ESCs 1. Brush ESC: It can provide stable power output and is relatively cheap. It is suitable for drones that do not have high performance requirements. A brush ESC requires 2 connecting wires to control the motor. By changing the current/voltage and conduction direction of the output DC, the speed and forward and reverse control can be achieved. 2. Brushless ESC: Brushless motors are more efficient and reliable than brushed motors, so they are widely used in high-end drones. Brushless motors must use brushless ESCs to control the motor's speed.
