Girls and women across Uganda are tearing down systems that allow violence to persist. Mentors like Jamira are driving this change. Groups of 30 girls and young women meet every week with a mentor in clubhouses, which are designed as physical safe spaces near their homes. In these safe spaces, they not only access social and economic empowerment training but also have the chance to socialise in a safe environment, free of judgement. Studies from Uganda show these clubs delay early marriage and enable young women to learn, grow businesses and build incomes for themselves.
