#AllInForSafety During the period of April 22nd to April 29th, we had the pleasure of celebrating Safety Week, emphasizing the importance of safety in all aspects of our operations. Throughout these days, our company reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing safety in all aspects of its operations. In achieving safety, it is important to collective action. Together, we can make a real difference. Here are a few initiatives we have undertaken this this Safety Week: 🚗 Driver Awareness Campaigns Employees gained insights into safe driving practices, hazards on the road, and strategies to mitigate risks. This heightened awareness fostered a culture of responsibility and caution, leading to safer behaviors among the workforce. 🔥 Fire Prevention and First Aid Workshops Workshops on first aid and fire protection were organized in Poznań, where every employee acquired essential skills such as fire extinguishing techniques and smoke-filled room evacuation procedures. 📚 Educational Workshops: - with an Inspector from the State Labor Inspection for people who have supervised employees - with Staci Smith referring to the requirements of Construction Safety - with Agnieszka Guz-Morawska - concerning workers' health 🤝 Awareness Campaigns: Training on the management of chemical substances and waste is crucial for ensuring the safety of employees by teaching them proper procedures for handling hazardous substances and minimizing the risk of accidents. As a result, the training enables employees to respond quickly to potential accidents or chemical leaks, minimizing potential harm to people and the environment. This has been an incredible week, full of inspiration and engaging conversations! Let's make Safety Week not just a week of heightened awareness, but a springboard for ongoing efforts to prioritize safety in all aspects of our operations. One of my biggest pet peeves—something that truly keeps me awake at night—is hearing about lifeguard trainers or training centers certifying individuals who fail to demonstrate proper proficiency in the water. This includes swimming skills, rescue techniques, and overall readiness to act in life-or-death situations. How often do we hear of trainers choosing to pass students who fall short, simply to avoid losing out on a profit? It's heartbreaking and dangerous. This kind of negligence can lead to disastrous consequences. Imagine this scenario: an unqualified lifeguard is hired and placed on duty. A life-threatening situation arises—a drowning victim, a spinal injury, or a medical emergency—and that lifeguard freezes, doesn’t execute a proper rescue, or mismanages the response. The result? Potential fatalities or severe injuries. Entire lives—victims, families, and even the lifeguard's—are irrevocably destroyed. Lifeguarding isn’t a job where "close enough" is acceptable. The standards exist for a reason: to ensure that only those who are physically capable, mentally prepared, and properly trained are entrusted with protecting lives. Certifying someone who isn’t ready puts everyone at risk—swimmers, event organizers, and even fellow lifeguards. We, as an industry, must demand better. We need: Accountability in Training: Trainers and centers must be held responsible for upholding certification standards. No exceptions. Transparency in Certification: Employers should verify credentials and ask candidates to demonstrate their skills during hiring. Ethical Training Practices: Training centers must prioritize safety over profits. Lives depend on this critical value. As someone deeply invested in water safety, I implore all training centers, trainers, and hiring managers to remember: this isn’t just a job; it’s a responsibility. Lives depend on lifeguards being ready and capable. Have you witnessed or experienced this issue in your community? National Safety Day 2024 Safety and precautionary measures are a top priority anywhere. Ensuring that we are safe and fit in any sector is a primary goal to make a space healthy for people to be in it. Ensuring the measures are in place and that it is safe for people is a healthy precautionary measure that should be adopted by every organisation in the world. We should also ensure that people are aware of the safety measures that are in place and respect and follow them. Every year, National Safety Day is observed with the intention of highlighting the safety measures and exploring ways to make every sector safer for people.

SAFETY WEEK IN THE HOUSE!! #embracingeveryvoice Embracing every voice creates an environment where every team member feels valued and heard. When people feel their voice is heard, employee morale and engagement improve, teams are more productive and a variety of perspectives are brought into the conversation. In contrast, if people do not feel heard, they are substantially less likely to bring forth concerns, which then directly correlates to decreased morale and productivity. More great information for you! While all of these topics are good, I am especially drawn to #2 & #4. When was the last time you reviewed your company driving policy? Do you even have one? What about talking to your employees about preventing trips, slips, and falls? As someone who has seen thousands of work place injuries in my career- I can tell you prevention is key. Taking a proactive, engaged approach to employee safety can do wonders for your workforce. Show your employees you care about them! Talk safety to them and then lead by example. Gravity really is a right royal b**tard Tim Marsh on a golden rule of behavioural safety. When we talk about basic behavioural safety on a training course, we always make the blunt point that “gravity is a right royal bastard”. It’s a risk factor that you simply cannot design out. “Well, unless you live in a bungalow and never stand-up or walk about” we often joke. I’d like to share a close to unbelievable recent experience that happened to the family of John Dillon – Anker and Marsh’s longest serving consultant. A dramatic event that proves that even staying seated in a bungalow won’t always keep you safe from gravity. This preluded by a basic training exercise and a fatal case study. A Fatal Case Study A few years ago, a colleague was asked to consider a fatal fall down stairs in a nightclub. Did they think foul play might have been involved? The patron was drunk and rowdy … there was no cctv and there was a concern that an irritated doorman had perhaps given them a nudge. Well possibly … but it transpired that the stairs were old, steep, slippery, with steps of differing depths that prompted ‘air steps’ in even the sober and the handrail thin and welded to the wall so mostly decorative. A genuine fall of course a very real possibility. Indeed, it was observed, lots of falls would be expected and when the accident book was consulted it was found that lots of falls had of course occurred and, two years previously there had been another fatal fall. (But there were lots of witnesses so this one described as just an “accident, accident” and not suspicious!) Illustrative Course Exercise..follow the link in respect of safety at large....
