🎉 Find out more about the winners of the 2024 Brain Innovation Days Best Poster and Best Innovative Showcase! 🏆 The Best Poster: STRATUM Project, presented by Raquel León The proposed tool is a Point-of-Care computing system based on multimodal data processing using #AI for improving brain tumour surgeries. The expected long-term impact of STRATUM is to reduce the duration of surgical procedures, thus decreasing patients’ risks, but also optimising the resources of European health care systems. 🌟The Best Innovative Showcase: IDUN Technologies, presented by Simon Bachmann and Moritz Thielen This project investigated EEG correlates for cognitive load measured by the IDUN Guardian brain-sensing (in-ear EEG) earbuds. The Guardian Earbuds measure high-quality EEG signals from inside of the ear canal, enabling the development of mobile and intuitive brain-computer interface audio products that integrate seamlessly into lifestyle audio products. Congratulations to both winners for demonstrating how innovative solutions in #BrainHealth can inspire progress and support people with brain conditions, clinicians and society alike! AI Integration in Cardiac Procedures at Asan Medical Center We would like to share the following article regarding the latest clinical breakthrough presented at TCT using Medipixel's AI solution. At Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Professor Jung-Min Ahn has successfully integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) into coronary artery interventions, revolutionizing the way procedures are performed in the cath lab. By using AI to analyze angiography images and determine the optimal stent size, the team can now provide faster, more accurate treatment, reducing the potential for human error and enhancing patient safety. The use of AI not only improves the precision of coronary interventions but also helps in making the procedure more cost-effective and efficient. The groundbreaking outcomes of this study have been published in JACC Cardiovascular Interventions and were presented at the TCT Congress in Washington, D.C. Next-Generation Cardiac MRI: Simplifying the Complex with AutoMate Cardiac by Seung Su Yoon, Jens Wetzl, and colleagues (Siemens Healthineers, Erlangen, Germany). In their editorial comment for the #SCMR2025 edition of MAGNETOM Flash, Deborah Kwon, M.D., FACC, FSCMR, FASE and Christopher Nguyen, Ph.D., FSCMR, FACC (Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA), highlight AutoMate Cardiac as one of the most exciting advancements for the future of cardiac MRI. AutoMate Cardiac is a fully automated cardiovascular magnetic resonance (#CMR) exam that uses a combination of deep learning networks to perform three key tasks: 1. AutoPositioning - automatically prescribing slices 2. AutoRestingPhase - determining quiescent ECG phases 3. AutoTI - setting the optimal inversion time Automating these tasks simplifies the imaging process, enhances accuracy, and reduces operator variability. It can also enable a general MRI technologist with limited experience to efficiently run a CMR exam, thereby further increasing CMR #accessibility for mixed-use environments (brain, MSK, body, etc.) and outpatient community clinics that have less institutional CMR experience and fewer resources. 🧨 Food for thought from last weekend's American Society of Echocardiography conference in Portland: ❓What if there was a two-way communication between us and our smart/AI systems in a meaningful way? In a way that would allow us to improve: ✅ the quality of our #echo exams (exam performance) ✅ our performance as readers/physicians (interpretation performance) ✅ our confidence in our interpretations (Cleerly has shown this effect in a study on cardiac/coronary CTA's already) ✅ ultimately improve the quality of care we deliver to our patients & communities? ❓What if we used #AI to question the very essence of #ultrasound imaging? We have been imaging the same structures for decades. Is this the best we can do? ❓What if we created a top-to-bottom, start-to-finish integration of study performance and reporting/interpretation? ❓What if we used AI to redefine the very role of echocardiography/ultrasound imaging in general? Is this time to take a more active, consulting role? 🔹How else do you envision we can use AI to transform the role and value of #echocardiography in our daily practice and in research? Would love to hear your thoughts! #cardiology #cardiovasculardisease #medicine #healthcare #patientcare #healthequity #quality #artificialintelligence University of Washington Harborview Medical Center University of Alabama at Birmingham Harvard University American College of Cardiology American Heart Association Siemens Healthineers Tempus AI Aidoc Nanox AI Mpirik (Acquired by Tempus AI) Medtronic Cardiac and Vascular Abbott Edwards Lifesciences Lantheus
