✔ Week 4 of the Runway Programming completed! It was another great week at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech. As part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program, I interviewed healthcare system stakeholders to learn about breast imaging challenges. I appreciate the different perspectives and insights shared. A few people have requested the slides to my pitch at the “AI-Hardware Residency” Demo Day as they were not visible in the original video, so here is an edited version. A little backstory: Every few months Founders, Inc. selects a couple handfuls of startups to be part of a 6-week Residency. This is a free (and "no-strings-attached") program where they host you, coach you, and let you be part of their (otherwise very exclusive) community of founders. At the end of these 6 weeks they promised us the chance to present in front of 200-250 investors and fellow builders. Talk about "under-promise and over-deliver": there were more than 400 people crammed in the space to come see us. After the event we had "science fair"-style tables where people could come and try our products and speak to us. So many great connections have sparked from this event. It was an incredible experience and it was an honor to be a part of this rockstar-packed cohort. I've said this verbally but will also put this in writing so I can prove I said it first: ***Someday there will be at least one book about a person or company that will contain a chapter about these six weeks.*** Ality has evolved a lot since this Demo and I can't wait to share its newest iteration with you all soon! Are you a bored investor looking for innovative startups with a wow-factor where you can exit within 5 years? 🥱💰 After watching many longevity biotech startup pitches, I can see that investors are still waiting for something special and chasing quick money rather than progress. ❗️First of all, dear investors, all of the startups in longevity biotech are already doing miraculous things. It might not be clear from their super-scientific presentations (let me know, and I’ll help you translate and interpret), but how is cancer depletion within a day not a miracle?!🤯 How is fully clearing cholesterol plaque and making cardiovascular diseases obsolete not a miracle!?🤯 How is the rejuvenation of the immune system with bone marrow stem cells and, as a result, the extension of healthspan by 20% not a miracle!?🤯 All seem pretty miraculous to me! And there are many more. ‼️Second, if we continue chasing quick cash on an individual level, we’re spreading ourselves too thin across too many things and merely hoping for the best. But if we make a collective effort towards a few miraculous things, we’ll have breakthroughs that will show that what biotech is working on is pivotal for humanity.
