🔥 DO YOU REPORT DAMAGED FIRE DOORS? 🔥 During a recent site visit with the client team, we came across this damaged Fire Door. As well as the visibly compromised door blade, the fire safety glazing was completely missing, rendering this Fire Door useless. The building in question has storeys over 11 metres in height, and as such UK Regulations state that all Fire Doors (including self-closing devices) must be checked every three months, and high-traffic areas or frequently used doors should be checked more regularly, e.g. once a week/month as signs of wear will appear more quickly with increased use. We should all play a part in ensuring that Fire Doors perform as they should in the event of a fire, from the manufacturer, supplier and installer, through to the building owners and occupiers… knowing what to look out for and how to report it if it’s faulty, might just save lives. Fire doors are crucial for the safety of a building and its occupants. They help contain fire and smoke and compartmentalise a building reducing damage to both the building and the people inside, allowing more time for evacuation. Fire doors must be of the correct specification, installed to the required standard and maintained thereafter for the ongoing safety of all the occupants of the building. A fire door assembly not only includes the door leaf, but also the frame, doorstops, seals, hinges, and hardware. Using just one wrong component may have a detrimental effect on the performance of the fire door in a real live fire situation. This is why it’s paramount that certified professionals (like us) install your fire doors. This video demonstrates this first hand. The outside of the fire door barely shows any signs of fire or damage, but on the inside, the entire room and its contents are completely ruined by the fire. If you need a quote for a fire door survey, remedial works or replacement fire doors, get in touch! #FDSW #firedoors #firedoorinstall #passivefireprotection #prestige #prestigefiresafety

Fire-rated doors are built to withstand fire, giving extra time for a safe evacuation. These are the standards that they must meet: - A rate of FD30 or FD60. - Fire doors should be self-closing. - The hinges must have the same fire-resistant rating as the door itself. - The gap between the door and the frame should be between 2-4mm for the intumescent seal. By paying attention to these details, you're complying with regulations and investing in the safety of everyone in your building.
