The 19th Academic Conference on Radiation Tumor Therapy of the Chinese Medical Association, held in Beijing on November 14-17, 2024. After generations of hard work and pioneering, the Radiation Tumor Therapy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association has become the largest and most influential academic group in the field of radiotherapy in China. This conference will take an offline form and focus on the theme of "innovation sharing and precise integration". CSTRO 2024 @BICC, Beijing

Electron Beam Radiation Therapy! Electron beam radiation therapy is a type of radiation therapy used to treat superficial tumors, performed with a medical linear accelerator by retracting the X-ray target from the beam path. * most clinically useful energy range: 6 to 20 MeV * electrons delivers a reasonably uniform dose from the surface to a specific depth, after which dose falls off rapidly, eventually to a near-zero value * Electron beams are rapidly attenuated by soft tissue and thus can only treat to a depth of a few centimeter (less than 5cm deep) * Applications: - treatment of skin (eyelids, nose, ear, scalp, limbs) - treatment of head and neck and lymph nodes - lip cancers - breast (chest wall irradiation, nodal irradiation and boost to the tumors bed)... #electron #electronbeamtherapy #superficialtumors #application

🧠 Webinar: Molecular Evolution of Medulloblastoma During Radiotherapy is tomorrow! 🧠 Medulloblastoma, one of the most common malignant brain tumors in children, is often treated with radiotherapy. However, ~30% of cases show radioresistance, and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Join us for this Dovetail Inspired Science webinar where Dayna Challis will present her groundbreaking research using a radiotherapy-naïve medulloblastoma cell line (ONS-76) to model radioresponse. Learn how a single dose of radiation impacts transcriptional, proteomic, and 3D chromatin topology changes. This study provides critical insights into radioresistance mechanisms and identifies potential radiosensitization targets that could improve treatment outcomes. 📅 Date & Time: Wednesday, October 16th at 9:00 am SGT/12:00 pm AEDT 🔗 Register here: https://ow.ly/qsLN50TI1Sm

An umbrella term, abbreviated MRI is a focused version of an MRI examination, tailored to answer a single specific clinical question—for abbreviated breast MRI, this is whether there is evidence of breast cancer—and through intelligent selective pulse sequences, intends to maximize diagnostic “return” on magnet and radiologist time “investment.” https://lnkd.in/e8HTmU29

The team at GenesisCare in Australia, led by Senior Radiation Therapist Kaj Bayley, initiated a project to enhance fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (fSRS) for benign deep-seated brain tumours. With an increasing number of fSRS cases, they turned to 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗔𝗿𝗰 and 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 to improve treatment quality and efficiency using 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜. The RapidPlan-enhanced HyperArc plans has helped: • Increase organ-at-risk sparing • Maintain/improve target coverage • Improve planning efficiency • Build competency in planners for advanced planning techniques 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀: Early results show significant success, including 𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲, improved 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀, and the avoidance of costly proton therapy overseas for one patient. It's time to use AI-based automated tools to score treatment-related toxicity after lung radiotherapy. Thanks to the efforts of my amazing colleagues Omar Bohoudi, Suresh Senan, Nick Hardcastle, Shankar Siva, Anna Bruynzeel, Miguel Palacios, and Famke Schneiders, we developed and validated a novel AI-assisted quantitative CT analysis tool to identify airway damage following stereotactic radiotherapy for central lung tumors. Automated scoring allowed for detection of more bronchial damage after lung SABR, and at an earlier time-point. This tool can facilitate dose finding studies. LITT +/- radiotherapy for spinal metastasis In this study, we investigated outcomes of the use of Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT), either in conjunction with radiotherapy or standalone treatment, in the treatment of spinal metastases. Check our results in the link: https://lnkd.in/gY7zxXPi In addition, I had the privilege to make the illustration for this paper (image). The figure depicts a vertebral body tumor with epidural tumor compression being treated with LITT.
