In a follow-up to my recent post about starting a new role, I’m sharing a different kind of update. Just 11 days into the job, I was made redundant. After a challenging few days to reflect on what has transpired, I feel it’s important to highlight the need for better planning when hiring new candidates. Leaders must understand that hiring decisions should be made with thoughtful consideration and long-term vision, not just as a reaction to immediate needs. They must recognize that their decisions affect more than just the bottom line — they impact real lives and careers. Cost-cutting and budgeting are realities, but they need to be balanced with careful planning and accountability. When a company’s values include “taking accountability,” that should be reflected in how they support new hires and honor their commitments. Though this setback wasn’t easy, I’m no stranger to navigating challenges. With over 18 years of experience in strategic partnerships and business development, I’ve built resilience and a results-oriented approach that has helped me thrive through change and uncertainty. I’m ready to bring that resilience and expertise to a new opportunity with a team that values growth, integrity, and long-term success. If you know of any opportunities or would like to connect, I’d love to discuss how we can create a meaningful impact together. #LeadershipMatters #Planning #Accountability #Resilience #OpenToNewRoles #Partnerships #CareerGrowth #BusinessDevelopment
If the management of any organisation behaves this way, it says a lot about them and where their business is at. You're lucky you didn't waste more than 11 days with them. Best of luck in your search for a worthy employer.

1moFrom 1st hand experience I can say that it’s not easy to deal with setbacks, but the way you’re already focusing on the bigger lessons shows your resilience and leadership. You’re spot on — hiring decisions should be made with more care, keeping in mind the real people behind the roles. This is just a bump in the road. The right team, one that values integrity and growth, will recognize what you bring. Keep pushing forward — your next opportunity is coming.
