"The Market is SLOW!" 🤔 The above statement is something i'm hearing a lot at the moment and has continued since 2023, where the number of job vacancies in the UK fell by 17.5% from 2022 - this was significantly higher than Germany with a decline of 9.7% and the US, which fell by 6.6% and France with a decline of 2.5%. Although, we're seeing less jobs on the market, there is still plenty of opportunities for those looking to make a move! You should not remain in a job you hate because of the worry of finding something else. Instead, I've been saying to candidates to speak to recruiters and find a handful they believe in and trust, and work closely with them to find something you truly love. On a personal note, I had a dramatic decrease in roles between December to Feb, but since then, I've had new and existing clients reach out to me about some truely great opportunities. If you or someone you know are looking to make a move, then please feel free to reach out 🙂 #jobs #currentmarket #makingamove

The UK hiring market has faced significant challenges recently, with vacancies dropping to their lowest point since March 2021. However, amid this downturn, the IT sector has shown a promising resurgence with June seeing the highest increase in IT job postings in a year. With IT jobs not being industry-specific and organisations increasingly relying on technology to drive their operations, this growth could show signs of hope for broader market improvement. Could this be a "ready, set, go..." moment for companies as they refocus their attention on growth? (I couldn't resist a sporting reference this week!) We've certainly seen an increase in vacancies being registered with us recently and generally more conversations around hiring. So, if you're looking to kickstart your hiring plans, get in touch - we'll ensure you're perfectly positioned to compete for the best talent out there. https://lnkd.in/dpAWCYZS

Whether you're an employer looking to hire, or you're keen on moving soon, understanding a little about the current UK labour market can help you maximise your success. Recent data shows a notable drop in vacancies, with job openings in October at their lowest since March this year. Meanwhile, competition for available roles is rising, it is the twentieth consecutive month of increased applicant availability. It's possible that uncertainty over the autumn budget and the loom of the US election led businesses to put hiring plans on hold until economic policy and geopolitical conditions were more clear. But what does this mean for the job market? For employers, while there are a lot of people job searching, there is also a lot of 'noise', meaning finding the very best specialist candidates remains a challenge. Your internal processes need to be super-efficient for sorting through a high volume of applications. For applicants, the market is becoming even more competitive. Now is the time to make sure your CV is the very best it can be, update your LinkedIn profile, and expand your network. While hiring has been slow, this could rebound as we go into the next quarter. Being prepared for this will benefit your search immensely. How are you navigating these changes in the job market? #ukjobs #uklabourmarket #recruitment #jobtrends #careeradvice

The UK job market is displaying signs of slowing down, with the number of unemployed individuals rising, as indicated by recent data. The unemployment rate reached 4.2% from December to February, marking its highest point in six months. Here are some key tips for job searching: 1) Personalise your CV to each job application to meet the job requirements. 2) Network with professionals, friends and colleagues within the desired industry to increase access to roles that may not be advertised, potential referrals and gain invaluable insights. 3) Use key words - Job postings containing the keywords you use in your search are more likely to appear higher in the search results. By incorporating these keywords into your CV, you demonstrate that you possess the qualities of the role and increase your chances of being noticed. Poignant reminder to jobseekers It REALLY can be all about timing 🕰️ Let’s say you work in recruitment. 2.5 years ago there weren’t enough of us recruiters. It was easy to find a job. Whereas it’s been the total opposite in many industries recently, including recruitment. There have been fewer jobs and an abundance of candidates. So here’s a little reminder. ✅ Try not to take it personally if you’re not successful in your job hunt. (But keep going 💛) ➡️ Didn’t get that job you felt you’re qualified and interviewed well for? There might have been someone who had slight advantage in terms of skills and/or experience. I often have multiple candidates we could hire for my roles at the moment. However, we can only choose one. ➡️ That redundancy? It was the role that was made redundant, NOT you. It’s often nothing to do with performance. ➡️ Taking that other job just to pay the bills? Remember when pilots were delivering groceries during lockdowns? They’re all back in the skies now. For me, this shows determination. ✅ The good news is that the UK is officially out of recession. This should mean more job opportunities. Do you think it’s already happening? 💛💛💛 #careers #jobsearch #jobseekers #recruitment

💡 What are the 2023 top ten job hiring searches by companies in US, UK, Canada, Australia? 👉 see the answer below in the graphic. Thanks for sharing Svenja Gudell #jobmarket #indeed #hiring ♥️ Indeed for Business - we help people get jobs
It's a busy week for us here at the Indeed Hiring Lab with lots of research coming out. Today, Cory Stahle took a closer look at the employment cost index data. "The modest quarterly acceleration is likely a reflection of continued strength in the labor market, proof that the market still has gas in the tank for continued expansion, and less a signal of a more worrisome, broad-based re-acceleration." https://lnkd.in/g7a3ei_4 Also out today, Callam Pickering - our economist based in Australia - published his research on what employers are searching for when looking for employees. --> Resume search trends across Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States are consistent with recognized skill and talent shortages. --> Healthcare, sales, skilled trades, and hospitality are common pain points across countries, accounting for a significant share of resume searches in Australia, the UK, and the US. --> Cross-border searches by employers on Indeed don’t generally reflect immigration patterns. Some employers or recruiters may be using cross-border resume searches to attract expatriates, with a high number of inbound searches in Australia, Canada, and the US coming from countries with a significant immigrant population. https://lnkd.in/g579Zifw #labormarket #jobs #economy #eci #data #jobmarket
