Key Takeaways from our Spotlight with iTeach Schools
We are grateful to iTeach for bringing us into their school space and sharing their principles as well as some of the practical tools they use to define and maintain a positive school culture in their 12 schools. The single, most crucial insight from this session has been that school management and educators can significantly influence the formation of positive habits in students, leading to a more effective and transformational educational experience.
Other takeaways from the session were:
🔸 Embedding values into the fabric of educational systems and ensuring consistent practice, allows schools to inspire students to become good human beings and build the maturity needed for their future endeavors.
🔸 When students actively participate in shaping their environment, they are more likely to internalise and uphold values. There is a need to establish systems for regular monitoring and feedback from students and staff. This helps ensure that values are being effectively practiced and allows for continuous improvement.
🔸 Developing school rituals and traditions that reinforce desired values leads to high motivation and the aspiration to work towards a shared goal. Reward systems such as creative events, ceremonies, and activities that emphasise school values can help inculcate these principles in students.
🔸 The aim of such an approach is to put in place transformational teaching and learning practices, which go beyond academic achievements to include the overall development of a student's character and behaviour, equipping them with the skills, attitudes, and habits necessary for lifelong success.
