Never Have I Ever, a cute game from childhood, now resonates in my 18-year post-Military career in higher education admissions and marketing. 🕹️ The adult version, "Never Have We Ever," (insert whichever No or skeptical response you’ve heard from an idea you pitched here) The main reasons for much of the hesitation in top echelons can be traced back to - Data made a change, poor communication made the outcomes lame! 😪 Example: many years ago a significant language and mindset shift in high schools altered how leads entered the admissions funnel. Instead of requesting information, students were encouraged to take the first step by "Applying" 💻. Marketing efforts swiftly adopted this change, resulting in a surge of leads.🕺 On the end user level, the sudden increase in applications brought initial excitement in admissions departments everywhere as people were just applying to start school. 🎶Down down baby your street in a Range Rover- 😎 (you’re welcome!) The fallout from admissions teams not being educated on what the change in the top of the funnel really meant to the student led to the approach to these leads being handled very poorly! What change that has huge amounts of data behind it are you seeing with todays students? What are you doing about it? #Communication #Marketing #HigherEd #Admissions

I went to a low-ranked school where the motto was to memorize everything for good grades and a good job. The teachers didn't explain much, so I struggled to understand. After school, I joined a normal college which felt like Oxford compared to my school. I was shy and lacked confidence. Understanding lectures was tough, and I felt exhausted quickly. I often compared myself to others, feeling inadequate. In university, surrounded by talented peers, I felt the same insecurity. I blamed my school and college for my struggles. One day, tired of blaming others, I had a realization. It wasn't about where I studied or others' talents. It was about me and my efforts. The exact thoughts: "What I have done for myself except blame? Why do I always compare myself with others? It's me vs me. Since then, I have focused on self-improvement. I've learned to be happy, take care of myself, and work on my confidence. It's not about comparing with others but competing with myself. Remember, you're in charge of your growth. Don't compare, just keep growing. Eid Mubarak to all of You ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wanna boost your brand's online presence? The Biggest Marketing Mistake in Education? “Not knowing your students inside and out.” After partnering with over 100 educational institutions, one lesson stands out: understanding student psychology is essential for effective marketing. If you’re not aligned with what students need or want, growth and admissions will stall. Here’s a proven approach to understanding your ideal students: - Survey Platforms & Forums Platforms like Reddit and Quora reveal student concerns and preferences. Engage in relevant threads for authentic insights. - Review Sites (Shiksha, Collegedunia) Analyze student reviews to learn what students value in programs and universities. - Competitor Analysis Observe top institutions to see which content resonates and find ways to offer unique insights. - Focus Groups with Students In-person or virtual focus groups uncover why students choose your institution and what they value most. - Alumni Insights Alumni feedback highlights career outcomes and long-term student benefits, adding depth to your messaging. - Analytics for Behavioral Insights Use analytics to track which content types engage students most and tailor future campaigns accordingly. Understanding student psychology isn’t a one-time task—it’s a continuous process of listening, learning, and adapting. The more you know your students, the stronger your results will be.

Dean: "We need to attract more students this year!" Me: "That’s fantastic. What’s our strategy? Have we streamlined the application process?" Dean: "Not yet." Me: "Okay, what about outreach? Any digital campaigns, student ambassadors, or partnerships in place?" Dean: "Not yet, but we’re working on it." Me: "Hmmm, have we nailed down our enrollment goals or optimized financial aid communications?" Dean: "Not exactly, but we’ll figure it out." Me: "Alright, and when do we want to see results?" Dean: "Immediately. Obviously. This is critical." Me: 🙃 Admissions teams are not magicians. 🪄 If we want record-breaking results, we need to set them up for success: ✅ Clear goals ✅ Streamlined processes ✅ Adequate resources Remember, this upcoming season is a marathon, not a sprint. Planning ahead is the key to success. Please set you team up for success. #Admissions #Enrollment #HigherEd #AdmissionsSeason #UniversityAdmissions

Mapping the student journey is essential for higher ed marketers. From initial interest to graduation—and beyond—the key is understanding each touchpoint. According to Google’s Education Search Behavior Report, 77% of prospective students begin their research online, often on multiple platforms. The journey doesn’t stop at the application. It’s about nurturing students through each phase of their academic career and keeping alumni engaged afterward. 📈 Personalizing content at every stage is what sets successful institutions apart. It’s about being there when students need you, whether they’re researching programs, seeking support during finals, or reconnecting as alumni. The student journey is long, and the institutions that map and engage every step of the way will thrive. How are you personalizing the student journey at your institution? 🎯 #StudentExperience #HigherEdMarketing #StudentJourney #Personalization

I lost my passion for TEACHING😰😪 Recently, I had a reunion with a long-lost friend, and when he learned about my transition to social media management, he was surprised and asked, "Have you lost your passion for teaching?👀" To provide some context, my journey in education was not just a job; it was a deep-rooted passion. I was dedicated to my students and constantly sought innovative ways to enhance their learning experiences. This dedication extended beyond the classroom, as I became a respected voice in education, supporting and inspiring fellow teachers. Transitioning from teaching to social media may seem like a sudden change to those who know me well. However, I want to clarify that my passion for teaching and education remains unwavering. I believe that education transcends traditional classroom boundaries, and my goal is to become a voice to recon with in social media while continuing to share my knowledge and insights with others. No matter where my career takes me, my identity as a teacher will always be at the core of who I am🌟 ----- Have you ever felt pressured to stay in a certain career path, even if your passions were leading you elsewhere? How did you navigate that situation?🤷🏽♀️ ------ I haven’t quite introduced myself, so here goes Hi my name is Victoria and I help brands and businesses boost their online presence with proven social media strategies, hence driving and increasing engagement.

🎓 Today, I received a heart-warming message from one of my students who is facing an unexpected early departure from the program due to personal circumstances. Amid her news, she took a moment to write this feedback: "From dissecting classic advertising campaigns to analyzing contemporary case studies, each lesson was filled with invaluable insights and practical knowledge. I particularly enjoyed your emphasis on the psychology behind consumer behavior and the role it plays in crafting persuasive messages. You not only imparted valuable knowledge but also challenged us to think critically, creatively, and strategically about marketing concepts and their real-world applications. Your enthusiasm was contagious, and it truly enhanced the learning experience for all of us." 🎓 I am deeply moved by her effort to write such kind words during a difficult personal time. It's moments like this that make teaching so rewarding and all the effort worthwhile! 📘💡 #teaching #advertising #persuasion #consumerbehaviour #consumerpsychology #highereducation

Why do we educate our kids? 🤔 To have a higher value at the job market? To be able to network faster through higher attained levels of knowledge? Or simply to be able to solve any future challenges in life with ease? Purposly, I divide the questions about one's education into 3 components: 1. Job market value - how capable are you in solving business tasks in a particular field? 2. Social component - You can learn social skills during your entire education, or particular knowledge can help you to be more socially acceptable. In return, social networking can help you to get better jobs. 3. Personal component - Set of skills or values learned through education that will help you in everyday life. Life is not only about work, work, work. Life is about achieving personal goals , and work is just one of them. For instance, education teaches you the value of hard work, postponed gratitude, and no surrender spirit , which may help you , for instance in your weight loss program or bouncing back after a life's crisis. Within these 3 categories, does Harvard University or Princeton University help you more than other universities? I would say they help you the most in 1. and the positive selection bias getting into a top university helps you with 2. and 3. Positive selection bias is that top universities already select the best individuals, so besides the curriculum and the teacher value added, what drives one's growth are the peer effects. The competition and aspiration effect of people around you. Not everyone can get into a top university on their first try, but what you can do is to select your peers on the path to a top university... Always try to be surrounded by individuals who are better than you. It will help you grow, and inevitably, it will set you on a path to success! 😃💪 Thanks, Visual Capitalist, for great graphics! #growth #education #peers

I'm loving working with the Luther College admissions team as a training consultant! In the past few weeks, we've covered topics in territory management, how to master travel season, how to build/get better at building queries in Slate, and today we even had a session to practice building queries together. What's awesome is that new counselors and seasoned counselors are in these sessions together, and we often have really good conversations about the topics at hand from a variety of different experience levels and perspectives. In this way, everyone learns something new! Looking forward to teaching the team about how to set up and streamline communications in Slate Deliver, leveraging AI tools to make their jobs easier, how to work with parents and influencers in the application cycle, how to approach financial aid conversations, and how to best support their colleagues in the admissions office (it takes a village to recruit a class!). Reach out if your admissions team would benefit from a helping hand when it comes to training and continuing professional development. When your entire team - even the new folks - are up to speed, you build a stronger admissions office, resulting in better enrollment numbers for the institution as a whole. #investinadmissions #professionaldevelopment #teamtraining #enrollmentmanagement #collegerecruitment #admissionsoffice
