Henry Kravis, in an interview with Goldman Sachs earlier this month, emphasized a couple of key points that we wholeheartedly believe in: Everybody looks smart when markets are going up. You can "just ride the wave and you'll do just fine.” The key to being a great investor lies in what you do during market downturns. During downturns, lean in and focus on what you can control. #privateequity #cre #cycles https://lnkd.in/gDYEATJu

Q4 is exciting and transformational. Mel Robbins has a great podcast about Q4. I have big goals for 2025 and Q4 is my launch pad. What am I up to? 1. Estate Planning With Heart with my terrific team is always front and center. 2. Carrie Beam, Ph.D.'s terrific team of data scientists is collaborating with me, my bookkeeper, ops director, and marketing director to get to bottom of my firm's KPIs. 3. October is Estate Planning Awareness Month (please ask two people you love if their plan is up to date and fully funded). 4. I began the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program. The first thing I had to answer was "What is your exit strategy?" Also on deck - supporting my family and friends with opportunities, changes, and harsh realities, planning quiet time with loved ones, and convincing my parents to take their dog to a trainer. What does your Q4 look like.

Why are we so pessimistic by nature? We're more focused on not losing what we have than on maximizing what we could gain. This is why risk-averse language resonates with us. And the VC world isn't immune to this negative bias mindset. Catastrophizing is easy. Asking "What can go right? "is far more challenging. Even when we find an answer, we often dismiss it as an unreachable utopia. But what if the elements needed to reshape an industry or market actually fall into place? Allow yourself a healthy dose of visionary thinking. Otherwise, what are we even doing? ===== 🎙 Listen to my full episode of Fintech Leaders with good friend Miguel Armaza for more on data as the new gold, secrets behind successful VCs, and the importance of founder-market fit at the link in comments.
