Did you know your body speaks to you? Are you listening? Ever catch yourself ignoring little signals from your body—tight shoulders, a dull headache, or maybe that knotted feeling in your stomach? We’re all guilty of it. But these aren’t just inconveniences; they’re your body’s way of saying, Slow down, take care of me.’ In the first video of my new series of five, I explore why listening to these subtle messages is vital for staying balanced, especially when work and life get busy. Think of it as self-care at the core level—understanding yourself to prevent stress and burnout. If you’re ready to start listening to what your body is telling you, take a few minutes to watch, and feel free to share how you tune into your own signals. 👉 Hit play, tag a colleague who could use a reminder, and let’s make well-being part of our work culture. --- I'm Dr. Valerie, a Workplace well-being host and osteopath with over 12 years of experience helping people connect with their bodies for better health. Tis the season for holiday parties and festive gatherings, but let’s remember something important: not everyone drinks—and that’s perfectly okay. Whether it’s due to personal choice, health reasons, religion, or simply not feeling up to it, no one should feel pressured to drink, especially in professional settings. Work events should foster inclusivity and respect, not create environments where colleagues feel judged or uncomfortable for declining a drink. If you’re hosting or attending, a little mindfulness goes a long way—ensure there are non-alcoholic options and create a space where everyone feels welcome. For those who may find themselves on the receiving end of questions about why they’re not drinking, this image offers some helpful ways to deflect. (Spoiler: “None of your business” is a valid option!) Let’s make this holiday season about celebration, connection, and kindness—not peer pressure. What’s your go-to response when someone asks why you’re not drinking? Share your tips below! #HolidaySeason #InclusiveWorkplaces #Respect #WorkCulture #Leadership

If ChatGPT states it. Then it must be true. Stop by Bo's Back Beer Garden for that epic happy hour hang and improve your health. The science states this is a fact!!! Why Happy Hour Hangs are Important for Your Health After a long day at work, taking some time to unwind and relax can be incredibly beneficial for your health. Happy Hour hangs offer the perfect opportunity to do just that. Here are a few reasons why making time for these social gatherings can positively impact your well-being: 1. **Stress Reduction:** Spending time with friends and colleagues in a relaxed environment helps reduce stress levels. Laughter and engaging conversations release endorphins, the body's natural feel-good hormones, which can help alleviate the stresses of the day. 2. **Social Connection:** Human beings are inherently social creatures. Building and maintaining strong social connections is crucial for mental health. Happy Hour provides an excellent chance to catch up with friends, strengthen relationships, and make new connections. 3. **Work-Life Balance:** Striking a balance between work and personal life is essential for overall well-being. Taking a break to enjoy Happy Hour can help you disconnect from work-related pressures and focus on personal relaxation and enjoyment. 4. **Mental Health Boost:** Engaging in social activities can improve your mood and provide a sense of belonging. Regular social interactions are linked to lower rates of depression and anxiety. 5. **Relaxation:** Enjoying a drink or two (responsibly) in a laid-back setting can promote relaxation. It's a way to unwind and signal to your body that it's time to shift from work mode to relaxation mode. 6. **Physical Health:** While excessive drinking isn't recommended, moderate alcohol consumption has been linked to certain health benefits, such as improved cardiovascular health. Plus, many Happy Hour spots offer healthy food options to complement your drinks. So, why not take advantage of these benefits and head over to Bo's Beer Garden for the perfect after-work hang? 🍻 With its welcoming atmosphere and great selection of drinks, it's the ideal place to relax, socialize, and boost your health. #HappyHour #AfterWork #HealthBenefits

Oh, so you're an introvert working in events? How's that working out for you? 😐 😐 😐 There was a point where I dreaded going on site because I didn't know if I could handle it - my desperate need to please was always winning over how desperately uncomfortable I was feeling. You see, being on-site means: - Being surrounded by people ALL. THE. TIME. - Going out for a drink (or a few) at the end of every day - Having very little sleep Which doesn't bode well if you're an introvert with a limited social battery, who also doesn't like drinking and being hungover and who can only function after a good night's sleep. So then you have to choose: go by the unwritten on-site laws that will send your brain into meltdown but make you socially acceptable or put yourself first. It's taken me literal YEARS to figure out little things that have a massive impact on my wellbeing on-site: 🔋 If possible, I start my on-site day with some 'me' time - gym, a walk, a swim - just me, myself and I. 🔋 Prioritise sleep - I know I will be much more socially charged if I'm not tired. 🔋 Limit my alcohol - I will go and have a drink with the team and/or client at the end of the day but it might be a non-alcoholic drink and just one, and probably not every night. 🔋 Know when to stop - I no longer have a problem with being the first one to leave or saying no to going out in the first place. This last one is unbelievably difficult because it usually makes me feel like I'm the boring one and that I'm missing out. But after years of physically being there but mentally being totally checked out, I no longer feel like it's worth it and accept that I am who I am. Because even when I leave early or refuse another drink, I'm still bloody great at what I do. 🙋♀️ Any fellow introverted event managers out there? How are you managing your wellbeing on-site?

🔥 Wellbeing is burning us out. I just read this today from lululemon in their 2024 wellbeing report. I work with founders and leaders daily on their wellbeing and building their companies and it's no surprise to read these findings. The pressure to 'be well' is constantly slapping us in the face these days, and the stress to not be stressed is racking up. The study shows almost 2/3 people are struggling to "keep up" with their wellness. They established three key pressure points leading to this burnout: 1️⃣ Unrealistic societal expectations 2️⃣ Conflicting Information 3️⃣ Feeling that we're going at it alone If you're feeling this burnout from wellbeing, try this: ✅ Stop listening to others and listen to your self. What do you really care about? ✅ You don't have to run a marathon or signup to a Spartan race to keep up with the Joneses for your wellbeing. ✅ Tell people what you're feeling and share what you care about. Community can be your best friend here. ✅ Get the heck off Social Media for a while Of course, there's lots more to the story here, but we need to also stop over complicating it. Sometimes the start can just be that easy... You can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eu46_U_2 #wellbeing #lululemon #wellbeingreport #burnout

Shoutout to SPINS providing a Wellness Day for all employees. Feels great to be at an org that prioritizes people’s wellbeing. We have roughly 5 wellness days spread out in the year. It’s a great time to recharge and focus on yourself. I am very focused on not working my life away and this really puts it in perspective that time off is needed for everyone. Today I got my blood draw for my updated InsideTracker data. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t done a blood test recently. I personally do the “inner age” one and it gives me all of the markers I need to optimize my health. Kind of ironic in my line of work but using data instead of feel is the key to getting to your desired results. Happy Friday y’all. #wellness #sales #marketing #health
