The report showcases the economic impact of the fashion industry and highlights the opportunity and need for the government to reset priorities for fashion policy based on the challenges the sector faces. Recommendations align with the “Growing Fashion’s Future – 5 Priorities” which we set out earlier in the year. In 2024, the fashion industry has undergone a radical transformation, breaking down the barriers that once allowed a select few to control the narrative. The rise of digital platforms, AI-driven design, and a global push for sustainability and inclusivity have expanded the room, democratizing fashion in unprecedented ways. Traditional gatekeepers who thrived on exclusivity now find themselves sidelined as the industry prioritizes innovation, ethical practices, and diverse voices. In this new era, success hinges on one's ability to adapt and embrace change—those who fail to evolve will find their relevance slipping away. The fashion industry has long clung to outdated practices and gatekeeping, making it slow to embrace new ideas and voices. It took me a decade of hard work before my contributions were recognized, but that journey sharpened my work ethic and professionalism to their highest levels.
