📍 Importance of #sixsigma for product and process development 🔈 Today we did a performance analysis of an RO pilot plant which was in an open space for years, as per SOP the cleaning and replacement of accessories were done and the plant was up to run, As per our target the plant should attain the conductivity with desired flow as per membrane classification,but the result was not as expected the recovery rate is too less and the rejection percentage was high. But as to find the cause and failure we used #DMAIC tool & #Whyanalysis, We came to know that the closing stem in the thermic valve is been rusted and defected so that the desired osmotic pressure was not generated,and toom steps to analysis the root cause and prevent failures in future, 📍 As per our analysis the rust and defect in the valve can caused due to :- ⏹ The feed water salinity, ⏹ MOC of the valve , ⏹ Improper Maintanence, ⏹ Improper inspection before starting the plant. 📍 Actions taken to prevent in Future :- ⏹ MOC of valves are instructed to design based on salinity, ⏹ Proper PM activities weekly and monthly are advised, ⏹ Checklist for all equipment are made and advised operator to check in daily basis to prevent breakdowns. 📍 Thermic fluid control valve , These valve play vital role in systems in which the flow and pressure are considered, The MOC of the valves will change as per the Fluid properties, Meanwhile we use this valves to control flow in RO plants, 📍 Purpose of Using Control valves in RO plant :- ⏹ To Raise the system Pressure (to create an osmotic pressure to the #Ro modules), ⏹ To increase the permeate flow. ⏹ To control the flow. 📍 Installation Guide :- ⏹ The direction of the valve should be in the direction of fluid flow, ⏹ Whether it might be Flange ended or thread ended both should be sealed properly (Gaskets and teflon), 📍 Safety Measures :- ⏹ Ensure that the Valve is fully opened while switching on/off to avoid sudden pressure rise in system, ⏹ The delay time (Throttle time of valve open and close) should increased/decreased gradually. #ro #desalination #membranetechnology #innovation #engineering #sustainability #leansixsigma #valves
