Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting Lawrence Slade, FEI and Dan Clelland from the Energy Networks Association (ENA) at our UK converter station on the Isle of Grain. Team provided a full tour of the site including the control room, explaining how the #interconnector operates, our #assetmanagement and resilience initiatives, as well as discussing BritNed’s excellent availability and reliability record over the past 13 years. Following the tour, Lawrence commented: “It was fantastic to see the physical 260km cable that brings power to the UK and to see where the “magic happens” to send it to the UK grid. Our interconnectors provide a vital service to the UK and our European neighbours, which is taken extremely seriously by the dedicated team at BritNed. The visit really illustrated the real pride in the safe and efficient operation of the interconnector exercised by the teams involved - now for well over a decade.” Thanks for visiting us Lawrence and Dan! #energy #electricity

The recent enactment of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) on April 13, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the European Union's push towards a more robust and unified electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. As nations scramble to align with this new framework, both challenges and opportunities arise for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Mobility Service Providers (MSPs).

Great to see the infrastructure for charging HGVs developing. This is what is needed to kickstart the decarbonisation of HGVs which contribute a significant proportion of the UK’s CO2 emissions.
Our Electric Freightway project is picking up speed 🚛⚡️ Today, the second report for the programme has been published by principal partner Hitachi ZeroCarbon, which sits at the epicentre of an energy, transport and logistics sector revolution ⚡️ GRIDSERVE’s Electric Freightway is part of the Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrator programme. Lead by GRIDSERVE, funded by the Department for Transport and delivered in partnership with Innovate UK, it aims to lay the foundations for the biggest and most advanced electric Heavy Goods Vehicle (eHGV) charging network in the world. Following the initial outline of the project’s approach and objectives in report 1, the second report shows that the consortium of more than 30 members have made good progress in the demonstration, design and implementation of eHGV infrastructure. This includes GRIDSERVE designing some of the first eHGV specific charging stations in the UK following extensive consultation. Find out more about our second report here 👉 https://bit.ly/4eamQOq

"If we can get 20% of our entire peak demand to be flexible by 2030 across the country...that would save ratepayers $10 billion per year. So overall, VPPs represent a paradigm shift from only being able to flex supply—which is how we currently run our grid—to also being able to flex demand." In case you missed last week's U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Pathways to Commercial Liftoff webinar on the virtual power plants (VPPs) report, you can now watch the entire 45-minute recording here: https://lnkd.in/gk28nmt5 Chief Commercialization Officer & Director of the DOE Office of Technology Transitions Dr. Vanessa Z Chan and Jeff Marootian, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary with the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy joined LPO Director Jigar Shah and LPO Senior Advisor Jen Downing for an overview of the findings of the Virtual Power Plants Pathways to Commercial Liftoff report and updates since the initial report was released in September 2023. They also discussed some key collaborations and projects that are helping to scale up and integrate VPPs into the broader energy system as well as strategies for scaling up virtual power plants and distributed energy resource technologies. The DOE Pathways to Commercial Liftoff Reports are the product of comprehensive stakeholder engagement combining system-level modeling with project-level financial analysis. While they do not represent official DOE policy or strategic plans, they serve as crucial resources for decision-makers in the energy sector, investors, and a broader range of stakeholders. Great work by M&C Saatchi UK on behalf of their client National Grid.... "The Great Grid Update" in the UK is a fundamental part of the renewable jigsaw and less championed than many other aspects of the road to #NetZero...thanks again for sharing M&C Saatchi UK... We work across the renewables sector in the UK, Europe and also have a significant presence throughout #Ireland where Wind Energy Ireland launched the "Build our Grid Campaign" earlier this year. This was supported by Chambers Ireland, Engineers Ireland and Renewable Energy Ireland - there is a link to the campaign in comments.... Quite simply we need to grow and adapt the grid to meet changing demands!! #renewables #grid #uk #ireland #energy #netzero #wind #solar #power #NationalGrid

159 "clean, green and swanky" electric buses in Oxford. That's over 2,800 tonnes* of electric vehicles taking to the roads this year as part of one of the largest e-bus schemes in the UK. And it's all thanks to Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach Bus West's commitment to zero-emissions. Zenobē are proud to have worked with both operators to design & deliver charging infrastructure to support the decarbonised fleet. Getting the fleet on the road quickly and efficiently means the benefits of electric can be felt today: ✅ Cleaner - better air quality for Oxford residents ✅ Simpler - easier to maintain due to less moving parts ✅ Cost-effective - thanks to lower electric fuel vs. diesel pricing Read more on our website >> https://lnkd.in/ezYNg_yr #fleetelectrification #heavydutytrucks #ebus *based on the average weight of an e-bus being 18tonnes
🚌 Great BBC TV slot for Oxford Bus Company covering its electric bus launch. ⚡The broadcast feature communicated the benefits of transitioning to an all-electric city fleet for passengers, city residents and the environment. 👉A total of 104 electric buses will come into service over the next six months, powered by EDF Renewable’s Oxford Energy Superhub network. 📺Thank you to BBC South Today for the piece and great to work with our client Oxford Bus Company to tell the excellent story of its strategy to decarbonise its fleet to achieve net-zero. #PRAgency #MediaRelations #BusIndustry #Sustainablility #CorporateCommunications #Oxford #Publictransport #EV #Electric #Netzero
