Putting in applications after applications can be mentally challenging. Well for me they can be, denials after denials. Like I understand that my "resume" is not that great, but in the past few months I have done more studying than I probably should have, keeping up to date with everything towards the medical billing and coding category. I honestly feel like it was a waste of time getting that certification, because in my experience it is absolutely impossible to get a job if you have little to no experience. Do I still keep up to date with everything? Yes, I do, Do I still keep putting in applications for that category? Yes, I do. Am I giving up? No. I also get that having to have "remote position" is not the best way to go, but it is the only way for me.

Employment as a New CPC-A Frustration can build for a newly credentialed coder especially if they have submitted many resumes and job applications and never receive any feedback as to why they were not selected for an interview or hired when they do receive an opportunity to interview. To be successful in getting interviews and ultimately a job a coder may need to do more prep to enter the job market as a newly credentialed coder. The medical coding field is no different than any other field of employment when a potential employee is new with no experience. A coder needs to find an employer willing to take a chance on them so they may need to know what they can do to give themselves the best advantage to get hired. https://lnkd.in/gSQgFecq

Tonight Monday 20 Jan on my #YouTube channel #MedicalCodingwithBleu I will be discussing New Medical Coder Transferable Skills. Airing at 530pm PST/ 730pm CST/ 830pm EST. See y'all then! Sometimes transferable job skills are not as evident, I'll be talking about some skills you should consider pointing out when relaying your skills to a potential employer. For my new people into #medicalcoding if you are fixated on you're new and you need a chance, try redirecting your thinking. You have skills, and training, talk about it! Stop talking about the fact that you want an "entry-level" job, they will see by your resume that you don't have experience. Calling attention to the attributes that you DO possess -that will make you great for this position- will help you to feel more in control of the job searching situation. Further, this will promote your own self-confidence. Confidence is a much more attractive quality to have a job candidate, than a candidate that is showing their uncertainty, even about their own set of skills. You passed a coding exam, you can do this too! Just my advice anyway.

Stop with the "Should I volunteer as a medical coder? No one wants to hire me without experience. I feel I should do this" NO! You have a VALUABLE, EXPENSIVE skill! You keep applying until you find your job. NEVER give away your skills for free! STOP thinking you can shortcut your way into getting experience. You will find a job! Stop being so scared to apply even when they are asking for 3-5 years experience. IF HAPPY CODERS ARE IN THE AREA, THEY ARE NOT MOVING! The employer will call those who are applying and that's how you get in. I said what I said, speaking from experience! #medicalcoder #Medicalcodingwithbleu
