Those who participate in Briyah’s signature #leadership program called “CEO Meet & Master (#CMM)” get a taste of Donella Meadows’s best practices, and learn that we can’t control systems, but we can dance with them. What does she mean by “dancing with systems”? First, you get the beat: watch the system work, learn its history, listen to the people who’ve been around a long time to tell you what has happened, understand the behavior of the system’s forces, look for its #dynamics. Secondly, listen to the #wisdom of the system: before doing anything, pay attention to the value of what’s already there. Thirdly, expose your mental models to the open air: Invite others to #challenge your assumptions, to add their own, collect explanations, consider all of them plausible until you find evidence that causes you to rule one out, and become emotionally able to see which assumption might have confused your own identity. As she explains so well in her book “Thinking in Systems: a Primer” keep going until you get to “the edge of what analysis can do and then point beyond–to what can and must be done by the human spirit.” Let’s #thinkwise! Here is a good article to get started: https://lnkd.in/eQKHDe_n For the opportunity to practice together with other leaders from around the world, join us for cohort 18 starting on January 13th, 2025: https://lnkd.in/eHhw3UT7. We look forward to seeing you there! #innovation #practice #purpose #leadership #systemsthinking

Trust is the currency of leadership. People must trust your words and your actions for you to effectively lead them and your organization. Think about how many interactions you have in a single day. That’s how many opportunities you have to build - and keep trust. Focus on these three elements if you want to deepen the trust of others. 1.) You Act Authentically: People trust you when they interact with the real you. You don’t “wear” one face at work and and another outside of work. You also act genuinely and consistently with everyone - regardless of rank or title. 2.) Your Competence Is High: People trust you when they can have faith in your capabilities. 3.) You Act With Empathy: People trust you when they believe you truly care about them. Now, over to you … * Which part of this triangle is the strongest element for you? * Which part can use strengthening? _________________________ Based on the research of Anne Morriss and Frances Frei featured in HBR. I am delighted to share some exciting news with my LinkedIn followers today: I have written a book. Forensic Leadership: The Traces We Leave Behind is the result of over 25 years of learning about leadership – in the military, in corporate spaces and in the intersections in which we can draw parallels between the two. In my book, I unpack the concept of red and green traces, which I’m sure many of you have heard me talk about before. Red traces create toxicity, discourage innovation and erode trust, whilst green traces inspire collaboration and foster growth. After 25 years of studying leaders worldwide, I have come to realise that the intentional, positive leadership many of us strive for is rooted in principles of care, notice, and transparency. When we prioritise these values, we intentionally leave green traces behind, which ripple throughout an organisation, empowering teams to work cohesively towards shared goals. This simple understanding, when leveraged in the right way, can revolutionise how you lead and the results you see. If you know me, it won’t surprise you to hear that my aim for this book was a practical, no-nonsense guide, full of tips you can take action on right away – whilst diving into why we leave the traces we do and how we can do the deeper work to make lasting change. I can’t wait to share this with you. Stay tuned for more details and thank you to everyone for their support over the course of writing this book. #ForensicLeadership #RedAndGreenTraces #LeadershipPrinciples #LeadershipCulture #AdaptiveLeadership #PurposeDriven #HighPerformingTeams

Are you focussing on rocks (problems) or the light (solution)? Have you heard of the TAPS model? (Tell - Ask - Problem - Solution) It's such a powerful, yet simple model from NeuroLeadership Institute to help #leaders to focus on what will move the needle... It's a model that I'm sharing next week in. leadership #training session with a multi-national company but is applicable to so many situations... (including my garden after some work!!) Consider the 2 axes. . 🔥Are you telling or asking? 🔥Are you focussing on the problem or the solution? Consciously and intentionally choosing what's best for the situation will affect the results, engagement and potential for innovation - so are you focussing on the rocks or the light? As I said, simple, but powerful.... If you're curious to know more, get in touch (DM me "LIGHT" and let's get you focussing on the light that you're dreaming of.) -------------------‐------------------------------ 👋 I'm Kate, helping individuals and organisations realise their incredible potential by focussing on clarity, courage and confidence to take actions aligned with values and priorities.

Intuitive Skill, Center of Emphasis, and Mutual Trust: "Mutual Trust. Who do you trust implicitly? And of that shortlist, who trusts you implicitly? You know how they’ll respond. You know what decision they’ll make. And you don’t have to keep tabs on them and you don’t have to manage them. You do your thing and they do theirs and, without coordinating, everything meshes. When you have mutual trust, you can move at lightning speed. No second-guessing. No hesitation. No debates. Just rapid progress in a favorable direction. Your eyes are their eyes. Their ears are your ears. One person in two bodies. If I could choose one thing to have, I’d choose mutual trust." I recently had the pleasure of leading a session at WeirFoulds LLP on Strategic Delegation – Amplify Your Impact While Empowering Others to Do Their Best. During the session, we explored: 🔷 Benefits and challenges to strategic delegation 🔷 Tactics and strategies for 🔹 What to delegate 🔹 Who to delegate to 🔹 How to delegate with clarity and context 🔹 How to hold accountable and better support throughout the assignment 🔷 The importance of closing the delegation loop Strategic delegation isn’t just a skill – it is a mindset, a cultural approach that intersects with strong leadership, mentorship, sponsorship, effective feedback, accountability, and DEI. Habitualizing the tactics not only creates an environment for all to thrive and succeed, but also allows you to increase your productivity, effectiveness, followership, impact, and influence. #Delegation #Leadership #Empower #SetUpForSuccess #Feedback #Teamwork #DEI #LawFirm #ProfessionalDevelopment #CommitmentToExcellence
