Gift cards are convenient and thoughtful holiday gifts, but they’re also a target for scammers (and yes, I do love a good scam). Cybersecurity Reminder: Only buy gift cards from trusted, reputable sources. Avoid deals that seem too good to be true—because they usually are. Never share the card number or PIN with anyone. Protect your loved ones and your wallet by staying alert to gift card scams this holiday season. #GrinchTakesOverCybersecurity #StaySecure #HolidayScams #GrinchTakesOverBroCoTec

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If someone’s offering you a “gift” but wants you to pay for shipping, they’re either sending you something worthless or trying to steal your personal information. Be skeptical and don’t fall into these traps. Here’s how you can spot a scam: Look for “https,” the padlock icon and a valid SSL certificate. Don’t click on links from unknown senders or websites. Research the seller thoroughly before making any purchases. Protect your accounts with strong security measures, including two-factor authentication. Read the fine print to understand all costs and conditions associated with the offer. Be a hero! 🚨 Websites Suffering from Data Breaches 🚨 🔍 Did you know that your personal data is a goldmine for cybercriminals? Here's how they exploit it: Head to the site nulled.to: These platforms are filled with leaked databases. Full Data Exposure: Leaks typically include names, usernames, emails, and passwords. Cross-Referencing Data: Cybercriminals cross-reference these details with other breaches to see if passwords are reused. Sadly, many do. For example, if you've downloaded the Chipotle app on your phone and connected it to your credit card, someone else could use your account to order food! 🔐 Be Alert and Secure Your Accounts! 👉 Use unique passwords for every site. 👉 Regularly update your passwords. 👉 Enable two-factor authentication. Stay safe and protect your data! #CyberSecurity #DataBreach #StaySafeOnline #PasswordSecurity #DataProtection

Scammers often tailor their schemes using details from your social profiles to make their scams more convincing. In other words...it's personal. For instance: - 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘀? Watch out for texts asking you to buy gift cards to aid relief efforts. - 𝗔 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿? Beware of 'delivery issue' scams asking you to respond to clear customs. - 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮? You might receive a fake alert demanding gift cards to remove a computer virus. - 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 #𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻? Scammers might tempt you with a bogus sweepstakes that requires purchasing a gift card to claim supposed winnings. These scams can seem obvious in hindsight but are often very convincing. Stay vigilant and remember—𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.
