We have advised Howden Insurance Brokers on the successful acquisition of Storfield. The transaction was led by Hong Kong-based corporate partner Heng Loong Cheong, with support from senior associate Tommy Lam and legal assistant Donald Lui. When delegates (who were not our traditional clients) first encountered our booth, they often assumed that we provide claims software solutions. After all, this is an Insurtech event, so surely we must be tech-centric. But when they realised that we provide people-centric claims management expertise (with 50+ years of accumulated wisdom) AUGMENTED by technology, out came the surprised looks and smiles. Why? Probably because claims expertise is under-represented in most events of this kind (in my experience, every such event I have attended). The CEO of a digital intermediary bluntly asked us, “why are you guys even here?” before acknowledging we are the “missing piece” in an ecosystem being developed in his country, and the hour-long discussion that ensued. We had similar constructive discussions with other delegates who have not traditionally been our clients/partners. But the world is changing, ecosystems are forming, and we are learning where we will fit and excel. Yup, the future looks bright! 🔆😎🔆

This strategic acquisition strengthens Verlingue’s position in the Swiss market and implements Adelaïde Group’s strategic plan of reinforcing the Group’s presence in Europe by bringing together local businesses with a shared vision. Kellerhals Carrard advised VERLINGUE AG and the Adelaïde Group in this project. The team was led by Arnaud Philippe and included Guillaume Jacquemet and Sébastien Bédat (all M&A), Didier Nsanzineza (Tax) and Elodie Spahni (Employment).
