"Local development companies can be leading lights in equality and human rights" - Robert Carey, North East and West Kerry Development "Equality and human rights is a natural area where Local Development Companies (LDCs) can drive development, integrating it as practice across the community, state sector and in our local communities – to the benefit of those we serve. "LDCs have a particular responsibility for equality and human rights. This is because of the types of programmes they deliver and because the core focus for LDCs is social inclusion and community development. Equality and human rights are foundational to both." 📢 Reboot’s Race to Equality: UK Financial Services 2024 Report reveals that while many organisations are striving to foster a culture where all voices are heard, there are still significant barriers. Nearly two-thirds (58%) of employees report that their companies encourage them to drive change and build an ethnically and racially inclusive environment. Yet the findings also show challenges persist: - 44% feel pressured not to advocate for ethnic and racial equality in their workplace. - Four in ten (42%) say they must tread carefully when addressing these issues. - Nearly half (46%) have felt pressure not to discuss diversity matters. - 39% have witnessed the silencing of diversity advocates over the past two years. 📖 Read more in the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eNJZ6H97 #TimetoReboot #FinancialServices #RaceToEquality #WorkplaceInclusion #DiversityAndInclusion #RacialEquity #CultureChange

As discussions around Project 2025 gain momentum in the context of a potential Trump presidency, we must recognize its broader implications. The National Equality Standard is a leading independent benchmark for diversity, equity and inclusion, and involves a rigorous assessment process. HTM'S accreditation recognises our commitment to driving progress within the business and across the industry, as well as the impact of the actions they have taken to date. Achieving the NES is one of my proudest moments at Highway Traffic Management. It has required months of concerted, sustained effort, and collaboration across the organisation. The work doesn't stop now, it is a standard of continuous improvement, and our DEI strategy sets out how we will continue to develop ready for our next assessment in May 2026. Receiving external accreditation shows how serious we are about our approach to diversity and inclusion. It demonstrates that we have a robust strategy that has embedded systemic changes for the long-term success and sustainability of DEI within HTM and the wider industry.
It's official! We've successfully passed the National Equality Standard (NES) assessment with EY! 🙌 The NES is the UK's leading diversity assessment framework, developed in partnership with the UK government and in collaboration with 20 public and private sector organisations. It sets clear diversity, equality and inclusion (DE&I) criteria against which companies are independently assessed. ☑️ Read more: https://bit.ly/4g5pqqs #equality #diversity #inclusion #streetsahead
