🏗 A shout-out to all companies with Field Engineers! An encouragement for companies that don't, to start that role & training. & a reminder to the industry that we will NOT train the amount of future Supers we need without the role. 🏗 Field Engineers are crucial. How do you train future Supers? With the role of FE. How ensure we progress as construction managers? With the role of FE. How do we better support trades and the Craft? With the role of FE. How can we increase quality and safety onsite? With the role of FE. How can we get back to basics as an industry? With the role of FE. How to we transition Craft to management? With the role of FE. This is just how it is done. No technology, expert, method, approach, or other entity is coming to save us. We are on our own. If we want to improve construction we will go back to the basics. The basics of training, the basics of shaping mindsets, and the basics of being a builder. "The role of Super and PM are NOT builder training positions. You need to be a builder to do them well, but you do not practice building in those positions. You practice building in the Craft and as a Field Engineer." So, if we want to change our industry for the better: ➡ Companies will embrace this position. ➡ We will build it into our GCs. ➡ We will create training programs for that position and allow them to do layout and lift drawings even if we do not have self-perform. ➡ We will start making future Supers instead of poaching and hoping someone else trained our Supers. It is time to get back to the basics with this role. Love, Jason
