‘Square Peg Round Hole’ and my personal experience with dyslexia. Growing up, school was a real struggle for me. I was often told I was thick, slow or stupid because I couldn’t spell, and reading a book felt like an impossible task due to my slow processing speed. 📚 I would constantly ask ‘but why’ and be told ‘it just is’. Maths was a constant challenge. However, I found solace in science, art and DT, subjects where I could be hands-on and creative. 🔬🛠️ I was socialable child and often described as a chatterbox because I talked too much (somethings never change 😆). I truly was a square peg in a round hole. Despite these challenges, dyslexia taught me resilience, determination, entrepreneurship and problem-solving skills. I thrived in the workplace where I could collaborate and get things done. 💪 I learned to find alternative ways to understand concepts and reach solutions, to see the big picture, ask the tough questions others didn’t want to and to simplify tasks rather than being overwhelmed by them. It taught me not to be beaten down by the system and keep asking why and why not. 🚀 💡🌎 Our school system isn't shaped for #DyslexicThinkers, but they are some of our most gifted minds. 🎥 Watch this brilliant #MadeByDyslexia film, voiced by the brilliant Jeremy Irons, to see why and how to reshape it by asking your school to #TakeADayForDyslexia and #LearnDyslexia with our FREE training: https://lnkd.in/egeebTUJ Excited to work with Psembi Kinstan and his brilliant team at DDB Melbourne, who produced this film, on our next campaign launching later in the year.
