As an insurance insider, Trent Cooksley, Co-Founder & COO of Cowbell Cyber, could bring an understanding of things like regulation, how underwriters look at risk, capacity, reinsurance and more to help the business stand up without getting stuck in the fundamentals of insurance where you could get stuck. That’s not enough, though, as you still need to be openminded enough to take challenge and learnings so you can move fast and make the right, informed decisions. Trent Cooksley, Co-Founder & COO of Cowbell Cyber, shares how they’ve done the risk scoring and modeling based on their own data and third party, external data, but they’ve built the models themselves. This allows them to take their own view on over 32 million businesses in the US that they are continuously monitoring. It also allows them the ability to build a vertically integrated model that works off the same data so each piece of the puzzle can be aligned. Trent Cooksley, Co-Founder & COO of Cowbell Cyber, talks about why there is a cohort of InsurTech startups focused on the space. Cyber is a big opportunity with a lot of complexity, so there is room for a lot of innovative activity to find a better way to address that opportunity. Unlike Property CAT risk, where the risk doesn’t change overnight, Cyber CAT risk is changing almost daily, meaning you need ways to take in new insights and be able to change rapidly to survive. Right now is an exciting time for captive insurance, especially here at Marsh as we constantly push boundaries and develop innovative solutions for clients' risks and business priorities. Earlier in the year we launched ReadyCell, and more recently we launched Edgware Re - a one-of-a-kind cyber-only group captive. Learn more from our captive and cyber leadership team on this short podcast. #MarshCaptiveSolutions #cyberrisk
Marsh is targeting between 15 and 20 members for its new cyber group captive, Edgware Re, by the end of the year, according to Ellen Charnley, president of Marsh Captive Solutions. The broker and captive manager launched the Bermuda-domiciled group captive in March for companies seeking more control of their cyber insurance programmes. Speaking to Richard on the Global Captive Podcast at RISKWORLD last week alongside Thomas Reagan, Charnley said: “We are anticipating probably up to somewhere around 15 to 20 members by the end of the year, which would be a terrific number, but there’s really no limit.” Listen to the full discussion between Ellen and Tom on the below platforms or any podcast app: Captive Intelligence: https://lnkd.in/d9v62Rs2 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/db5xmBEk Spotify: https://lnkd.in/dAPGxAeW #captiveinsurance #globalcaptivepodcast #captiveintelligence https://lnkd.in/dv5dE7AV
