#OxfordNetzero's recently published comparison of #netzero standards offers a comprehensive overview on the evolving governance frameworks for voluntary efforts to support the #ParisObjectives. Areas of convergence, divergence, and gaps across the 37 identified standards have been mapped out in detail with great accuracy. There should be no doubt that the report will help corporate actors to navigate the often confusing standards landscape and to select what is deemed most suitable for their specific circumstances. As implementing the #ParisAgreement is a true global challenge, and netzero can not be achieved by corporate actors alone, a key overarching gap appear to be missing elaborations how these standards integrate into netzero plans of key governments. Information whether and how each standard supports the required progress reporting to the UNFCCC would be useful. Corporate and government netzero standards are still two different worlds.
