🚑 Innovation Meets Emergency Response 🚑 The University of Mannheim is part of the groundbreaking RettungsNetz-5G initiative, funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport. This project explores the transformative potential of 5G technology in medical emergency response, aimed at faster, more accurate, and life-saving interventions across the Rhine-Neckar region. After more than two years, the Mobile Stroke Unit, as key outcome of the project, has been launched. Tonight, we achieved a wonderful milestone. The first Siemens Healthineers powered and digitally connected Mobile Stroke Unit ready to save patient lives! My colleagues and I joined the closing event of the Rettungsnetz 5G consortium in Mannheim, Germany. After multiple years of hard teamwork we had the honour to present a key outcome of our Neurovascular Growth Initiative: The combination of state-of-the art CT imaging (SOMATOM On.site) with our all-in-one telestroke suite (Stroke Connect) - on wheels in an ambulance, ready for emergency service operations. Thank you to the strongly committed Rettungsnetz 5G members, including Universitätsmedizin Mannheim, University of Mannheim, Freytag Karosseriebau, DRK-Kreisverband Mannheim e.V., Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar and more. I've seen multiple #EMS-related research studies lately that state or imply the importance of having hospital outcome data in order to effectively evaluate EMS systems. This one, for example: "EMS data from NEMSIS cannot be easily linked with the subsequent hospital outcomes of patients transported, so we do not have long-term outcomes. Thus, we cannot precisely quantify whether [Helicopter] EMS was independently associated with improved outcomes when compared with ground EMS."
