** Warning! - Time travel ahead ** I recently discovered a box of Showreel DVD's from the time when I worked at Discreet (as the Media & Entertainment division of Autodesk was called back in early 2000). I couldn't help thinking about what the younger generation today would think about the computer graphics that was the cutting edge in 2000. It was a pivotal era in computer graphics that triggers a sense of nostalgia for those of us who witnessed its evolution firsthand. For the younger generation immersed in ultra-realistic graphics and real-time ray tracing, the visuals from two decades ago might seem charmingly old-fashioned. However, it's essential to appreciate that these early innovations laid the groundwork for the sophisticated graphics we enjoy today. The constraints of that period spurred creativity and set the stage for the remarkable advancements that followed. Reflecting on this journey highlights the relentless pace of technological evolution and the pivotal role of past innovations in shaping not just computer graphics, but the entire IT industry. Enjoy 5 minute eye candy from 2000 below. There may be more nostalgia coming soon.
