🚨 Speaker announcement! 🚨
Join us next week for round two of #UncharitableFestival2024, where we'll be teaming up with Charity So White for a series of anti-racist events. On the 9th of October, we'll be going live with How the Charity Sector Failed Palestine, where we'll explore the critical examination of the charity sector’s response to the genocide in Gaza and The West Bank.
We'll be joined by a range of speakers, including:
🎤 Falastine Dwikat: Falastine Dwikat is a Palestinian writer and activist based in Ramallah, Palestine. With experience in various global movements and international organisations, she is deeply passionate about justice and intersectionality. Her work reflects a commitment to advocating for the
oppressed and challenging systems of oppression.
🎤 Kema Daley: Kema is a man of many talents. He’s a rapper, youth worker and activist currently awaiting trial for taking action against Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer. He’s worked within the charity sector for 15 years, designing and delivering creative workshops for young people. He’s also supported Collective Action LDN, organising teach-ins during the BLM uprising. Kema is passionate about radical change, abolition, and freedom.
🎤 Rosa Bransky: Co-CEO of Purposeful, the world’s first Africa-rooted hub, resourcing and mobilising girls’ resistance all over the world. The organisation works across four roles: centring feminist education as the bedrock of social justice movements, holding space for girls to build a base for their shared struggles, amplifying girls’ voices to make sure they are heard in all realms of power, and most importantly, moving money directly into their hands.
🎤 Jon Cornejo: Jon is an anti-racism campaigner, organiser, and consultant. Through working in human rights campaigning they got into staff organising around racism and oppression, and with Charity So White they campaign to dismantle systemic racism in the sector. They also work with JMB to guide teams through their anti-racism journey.
This insightful discussion will challenge mainstream narratives and highlight the impact of the charity sector’s actions—or lack thereof—on Palestinian communities. Don't miss this important conversation that brings awareness to the intersection of charity, politics, and justice.
