Thriving Communities are in DC! This week, follow along for updates from U.S. Department of Transportation HQ as the Thriving Communities Program (TCP) FY22 cohort convenes. These communities began receiving TCP technical assistance and capacity building support in mid-2023 and will wrap up their time in the program in mid-2025. At the convening, we’re celebrating the progress communities have made toward implementing their transportation infrastructure goals and talking about ways to keep the momentum going. At the IWCE 2024 conference session, leaders from California and Texas discussed the challenges and benefits of transitioning public-safety answering points (PSAPs) to IP-based next-generation 911 (#NG911) platforms. Budge Currier, assistant director of public-safety communications for California's Governor’s Office of #Emergency #Services (CalOES), described the extensive efforts to migrate 449 PSAPs in the state, highlighting improved system resilience and call-routing capabilities.
