Te Arikinui Pullman Auckland Airport Hotel has been awarded two of the highest accolades by the Designers Institute of New Zealand - marking the ‘best of the best’ in design for 2024. Designed by WAM in close collaboration with Tainui Group Holdings Limited and Auckland Airport, and interiors in association with Space Studio, Te Arikinui received two supreme Purple Pins at the DINZ Best Awards, and two Gold Pins for Spatial and Toitanga on Friday. "Te Arikinui Pullman Hotel exemplifies the integration of te ao Māori and architectural design," said the jury. "It has seamlessly blended a truly indigenous design into the innovation of a high-class modern space. The design has set a standard for re-indigenising our spaces to exude the prestige and elegance of cultural narratives. The name Te Arikinui holds exceptional mana in Aotearoa New Zealand and the judges have agreed that this design, narrative, and innovation upholds that mana and is the pinnacle of the spatial category in 2024. Nei rā ngā mihi nui whakaharahara ki a koutou o Tainui, otirā, ngā mātanga katoa o te kaupapa hirahira rā. Ko tā koutou mahi te taumata i tēnei tau." WAM Managing Director John Coop says this is an outstanding outcome, and well-deserved recognition for this significant project. “To receive a Purple Pin is a very rare occurrence. But to be recognised with two Purple Pins is an incredible achievement that recognises the hard work, dedication and commitment from our clients and the design and delivery teams. Our congratulations and sincere thanks to all involved for their dedication to design excellence.” View more about this project here: https://lnkd.in/dYvGpPWw Renata Te Wiata Space Studio Ltd
