🌐 The AI Shift in AEC: From Hype to Real Impact 🌐 In the past year, we’ve seen AI dominate the conversation in AEC. People questioned how AI would impact their roles and if their jobs were at risk But as we head deeper into 2024, a new realisation is dawning. AI isn’t replacing us—it’s complementing us. We’re seeing a slow but steady transition from curiosity and concern to practical use cases that deliver real value. 🔍 What does this look like? - AI is excellent at automating repetitive tasks, improving efficiency, and helping with data analysis. - But it can’t replace the nuance, decision-making, and problem-solving skills that humans bring to the table. This is where the “slow AEC” comes in. People are recognising where AI fits and where human expertise is still essential. It’s not about AI taking over—it’s about leveraging the right tools for the right tasks. 💡 The future of AEC is a collaborative one, where AI supports and enhances human capabilities, allowing us to focus on the strategic and creative aspects of the work. Are you seeing this shift in your role? How are you utilising AI in the AEC industry? Listen to the Episode here: https://pod.fo/e/2730d6 #AIinAEC #ConstructionTech #AECInnovation #DeepSpace

It's not necessarily true that AI can't be used for nuanced decision making. Many machine learning algorithms are far better at picking up nuanced patterns in data than humans are. This is especially true with big training datasets, where the amount of data means subtle patterns are imperceptible to humans. The difficult part is often in explaining or justifying an AI decision. But I do agree that most of the easy wins in construction are in automating or optimising processes, to complement human expertise
