Approach with caution, may talk about building safety act and put you to sleep. If you want to know what we are doing and what you need to do going forward let us know.
Our Director and founder, John Smith, enjoyed speaking at the buildeng Southern Conference this week, saying 'it was great to meet so many people interested in the building safety act' and meeting other CABE and CIAT Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) members. John is also speaking for Brighton Chamber and will also be at Constructing Excellence Sussex Club in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for him! NYC DDC - DBIA Liberty Region - New York Build Expo -- Great job this week by NYC DDC's Jade Bailey, Director of the Design-Build Unit, along with NYCHA, MTA, and the New York Power Authority with amazing audience support from Commissioner Foley, Assistant Commissioner Yvi McEvilly, Kayla Holmes, and NYC Parks' Laura Pavilonis. It is exciting to see how critical public work improvement projects are benefiting from having the right project delivery tool. Since NYS gave the City the authority to use this tool, NYC DDC has been selecting critical and complicated projects for this tool and the results are coming in. Design-build gives NYC DDC the right project delivery tool to finish projects faster and more efficiently. Of course, the real winners are the residents and businesses. The days of open construction projects dragging on for years are ending as this project delivery tool is utilized. If the City gets the authorization from NYS in 2024 to also use Progressive Design-build and CM-Build, then the paradigm for how projects are executed will change dramatically and all in favor of the residents and businesses. Exciting times for NYC DDC and everyone that will use the completed buildings or roadways
On February 14th, Jade Bailey, Director of the Design-Build Unit, participated in the New York Build Expo’s Future of Construction State panel on behalf of DDC and the DBIA Liberty Region Chapter. The panel included representatives from NYCHA, MTA, and the New York Power Authority, with a discussion on individual and collective journeys to successfully implement Design-Build as a delivery method. Commissioner Foley and Assistant Commissioner Yvi McEvilly were in attendance, alongside Kayla Hom from the Design-Build Unit as well as Laura Pavilonis from the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, whom we are working with very closely on many Design-Build pilot projects. Design-Build allows DDC to complete public projects faster and more efficiently, benefiting our partners in the design and construction process, our City, our sponsor agencies, and the New Yorkers who rely on our projects.

St. Patrick's Day and the construction industry may not seem like an obvious connection at first, but there are actually some interesting parallels between the two. Just like how St. Patrick's Day is a day of celebration and festivities, construction projects often mark significant milestones and achievements. Both involve careful planning, attention to detail, and hard work to create something special. In the construction industry, the color green is often associated with sustainability and eco-friendly practices. On St. Patrick's Day, green is the dominant color symbolizing luck, harmony, and growth. This shared color theme highlights the importance of being environmentally conscious in construction projects to ensure a better future for generations to come. Additionally, just as St. Patrick's Day is a time to honor Irish heritage and culture, the construction industry also values diversity and inclusivity. Different backgrounds, skills, and perspectives come together to create innovative and functional structures that benefit communities. Overall, the connection between St. Patrick's Day and the construction industry lies in the shared values of hard work, creativity, and unity. Both celebrate progress, growth, and the potential for a brighter tomorrow.
