I’m sharing an article I just wrote for Forbes that discusses the bright outlook for defense tech in the new Administration. The outlook improved with the current Administration given the growth in budget for DIU to nearly $1 billion, the $1 billion in loan capacity available through the Office of Strategic Capital, the Replicator program and certainly the continued funding for defense tech by the venture capital community. Moreover, given the incoming officials nominated for key posts at DoD and the outlook for a low tax and low regulatory environment, these are several reinforcing factors which indicate an even better outlook in the next 4 years. #defensetech #nationalsecurity Shield Capital Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Office of Strategic Capital Stanford Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation Institute for Security and Technology (IST) Information Technology and Innovation Foundation Special Competitive Studies Project - SCSP Center for a New American Security (CNAS) Apex - Spacecraft Manufacturing Code Metal Danti AI

What a fascinating article! While a lot of the ideas here may seem like they are decades away, there are tangible benefits that some firms may try to experiment with already. This is especially true if they already have strategic partnerships in aerospace or other similar engineering fields. #Innovation #Manufacturing #Space

Our first Deep Tech Field Notes interview is live! 🚀 FIELD NOTES: Brandon Florian // From Defense Prime to Startup Founder One of the most compelling insights from our conversation with Grid Aero's CCO: "There's a lot of dormant talent in the primes - people who've been there for decades thinking 'we could do this so much better if we just did X.' Those people are primed to jump out and start their own thing." This journey from NG Aerospace Systems first tech scout to founder highlights a bigger story: 🌊 The new wave of defense innovation is being led by insiders who understand the gaps 🇺🇸 Anduril, Palantir, and SpaceX were just the beginning 🗓️ The next 4 years will see unprecedented growth in deep tech / dual-use given current geopolitical pressures 💨 We need to move faster to maintain strategic advantages in both hardware and software Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gg98M6aj
