📽️ Volume 2 of Our Rialto Square Theatre Terrazzo Restoration Project is Now Live! 🏛️✨ We're excited to share the progress in Volume 2 of our Rialto Square Theatre Terrazzo Restoration series! In this episode, we take you through the next critical phase of the restoration process. After completing the initial grinding of the historic terrazzo floors, we focused on filling in all the pinholes and small imperfections using a specially mixed resin. This step is vital for ensuring a smooth, even surface before moving on to the honing and polishing stages. Once the pinholes were filled, we removed the excess resin and began honing the terrazzo floor—taking it step-by-step from 200 grit to 3500 grit to refine and smooth the surface, preparing it for the final high-gloss polish. The honing process was incredibly satisfying, as each pass brought out more of the natural beauty of the terrazzo, gradually transforming these historic floors. In this series, we're not just showing you a transformation—we’re sharing the craftsmanship, dedication, and detail that goes into restoring a landmark like the Rialto Square Theatre. It's all about preserving history while breathing new life into these magnificent floors. We would love for you to engage with us on this restoration journey. Shakespeare Theatre Project Abandoned: A New Chapter for D.C Real Estate The curtain has closed on the ambitious Shakespeare Theatre project in D.C., with developers shifting gears to sell the site for rowhome development. While it’s always a moment of reflection when a major project changes course, it also opens the door for new opportunities in the ever-evolving real estate market of our nation’s capital. Rowhomes could offer a community-centered solution, potentially catering to the growing demand for residential spaces in urban environments. This pivot highlights how adaptability plays a crucial role in shaping cities. What do you think about this shift from a cultural landmark to residential housing? Is it a win for D.C. or a missed opportunity? 🤔

Norman Day's article in The Age describes the Vic markets as "theatre" which is supported by my research. (I investigated how the spatial form of the market evolved in relation to its daily use and changing social context. Essentially, I argued that the market design offered a stage for everyday performance, which visitors could access easily from multiple frontages to become co-performers. The frontages were continually refined over time). But following the redevelopment, how much harder will it be for shoppers arriving by car to get to and from the sheds? And if the building towers will create local demand, won't the market be completely gentrified?
Bloated, backward and banal, Vic Market rebuild is the opposite of good planning

Scene Descriptions and Atmosphere How do you transport your audience into the emotional core of your story with just a few lines? Manchester by the Sea is a powerful example of how restrained, yet evocative, scene descriptions can set the tone and mood of a film. Kenneth Lonergan’s script relies on the stark, often chilly backdrop of a New England winter to mirror the internal struggles of the characters. Through subtle but vivid descriptions, the audience is immersed in the weight of grief and isolation. The balance between what’s shown and what’s left unsaid creates an atmosphere that speaks volumes. What techniques do you use to evoke mood and tone in your scene descriptions? Here is the opening scene from Manchester by the Sea. https://lnkd.in/gGFjTJRv

Planning and executing an event is akin to a live stage production. There are no second chances or dress rehearsals once the event begins. It is crucial to plan, prepare, and be ready for any unexpected situations that may arise.
