This year S.I.M.S. has started a journey through #sustainable productivity! We have requalified many of our buildings and installed a new #photovoltaic panel system to create #greenenergy. Few key numbers: - 4200 square meters of Fiber Cement Roof removed to requalify buildings. - 2300 Solar Panels installed on the new roofs. - 1,200,000.00 kWh of #sustainableenergy expected to be produced each year that will cover up to 20% of S.I.M.S. energetic demand. We hope this is just the first step through a more sustainable and modern SIMS!

After introducing the broad data base and innovative strength of our geospatial engine ENIGNUM in our last post, we now delve deeper into our specific analysis results. This time, we focus on rooftop spaces in 15 out of 16 German states (excluding Bavaria) and their potential contribution to the energy transition. Our detailed analyses reveal that rooftops ranging from 50 to 149 m² account for a total area of approximately 1.4 billion m². These spaces predominantly host PV installations under 30 kW, mainly on residential properties. For PV installations over 30 kW, which generally require rooftop areas starting at around 150 m², there is an estimated 2.4 billion m² available. In total, this amounts to approximately 3.8 billion m², with an impressive potential of about 364 GW—of which only 41 GW have been realized to date. This is all under the assumption that about 60% of the rooftop areas can actually be utilized. These figures underscore the immense untapped potential, representing approximately 323 GW in 15 of the 16 German states. Germany's rooftop landscape offers tremendous opportunities to locally generate green electricity, advancing the long-overdue decentralization of energy production.
