Lessons learned as I reflect back on my one year anniversary at Navistar Inc 💡 Goals are good if you want to win once. Systems are best if you want to win repeatedly. Although goals are essential and necessary for clarity and getting us started, they won't solve lingering pain points or bridge gaps. Focusing on developing/improving systems and processes is the secret sauce to long-term success. Ultimately, we don't rise to the level of our goals. We fall to the level of our systems. 💡Don't worry about changing people's mindset. Focus on changing the mechanics within the system and by default it will yield the desired outcomes. This is particularly relevant for #Diversity, #Equity, #Inclusion, and #Belonging initiatives post the Supreme Court's repeal of Affirmative Action. DEI isn't a marketing stunt. DEI isn't a handout, DEI isn't about lowering standards. DEI is about embracing, unifying and leveraging our diversity to perform at the highest levels of creativity and innovation while in a welcoming and inclusive environment where EVERYONE can thrive and be their authentic self. 💡 No one succeeds alone. Giving credit to others doesn't undermine you. It's actually a sign of your confidence and humility. Transitioning from tackling projects to shaping strategic priorities. "𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹?” Is it a ride, winning a prize at a game of chance, or food? 𝘙𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 – that’s what I plan my trip around at an amusement park such as Disney or Six Flags. I’m a fan of the older coasters without corkscrews or loops, I ride these as well. The iconic Cyclone at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY is my all-time favorite, but Space Mountain at Disney is a split-hair behind (mostly because of the travel and planning required). My second favorite ride - 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴. I had an experience in Reykjavík, Iceland that I can recall with total clarity after only one visit. It was over July 4th weekend no less. The best way to describe it is a ride in your bathing suit on water inside Disney’s Space Mountain. It was fully enclosed and used light and darkness to create misdirection so you expected to go Right but were taken Left, etc. Is your career pivot journey taking you on a water slide with darkness and light? 🚀 **My First Job Experience: A Journey Through Recommendations and Life Lessons** 🚀 Looking back, I consider myself quite lucky. Every job I’ve had so far has come through recommendations—something I’m incredibly grateful for. That network effect started with my very first role, which set me on a path filled with learning and unforgettable experiences. My journey began at a small but lively restaurant called *Vyasinga*. I worked under two supervisors, Emmanuel and Robert, who taught me different lessons. Emmanuel was encouraging and supportive, while Robert was... well, let’s just say a bit tougher. Their contrasting styles gave me my first insight into navigating diverse leadership dynamics. I joined Vyasinga as they launched an outside catering service, and I was fortunate enough to be on the team that ventured out to various organizations. I served in offices like Resolution Health, LG, and even got a glimpse inside numerous Safaricom locations. Working as a server in these settings felt like being a “fly on the wall”—no one really noticed us, so I could quietly observe the culture, the communication styles, and how things were done in these spaces. It was a unique perspective that taught me a lot, even as I stood in the background. In my upcoming posts, I’ll share some specific memories: 1. Key takeaways from working at Resolution Health offices. 2. My eye-opening encounters at Safaricom. 3. Why I eventually decided to move on from Vyasinga, after an intense year and a half. This first job wasn’t glamorous, but the insights I gained as an “invisible observer” shaped my understanding of workplaces and the people within them. I’m excited to dig into those stories and share the lessons they left me with. Stay tuned!

It’s the beginning of my very first summer holiday as an employee. YES FIRST EVER! As I wind down and transition into holiday mode, I find myself reflecting on some lessons from my year at Hintsa Performance. By the way, I never planned to leave my entrepreneurial life and become an employee, but then Hintsa just happened. 😄 My colleague challenged me just before the holidays and asked, "Hanna, what is sustainable high performance for you?" Here’s my answer: 🌟 What is Sustainable High Performance? 🌟 In the quest for excellence, it's crucial to prioritize sustainable high performance, not just peak performance. For me, this means more than just hitting targets – it encompasses: ✅ Life Quality: Feeling happy and energized, finding inspiration daily, and balancing achievement with creativity. ✅ Authenticity: Being in an environment where I can be 100% myself and utilize my full potential. ✅ Self-Awareness: Continuously discovering more about myself, honing my strengths, and understanding my weaknesses. P.S. Picture from Saturday. We were on our annual family mountaineering trip. My sister, our 63-year-old mother, and I climbed to the top of Wilder Freiger at 3,500 meters. Quite an amazing way to start this vacation 😎
