Farm Safety Week - Yellow Wellies- 22nd-26th July. In 2024, the charity celebrates its 10th anniversary The Farm Safety Foundation (or Yellow Wellies as many of you know us ) manage and fund this campaign and we have the support of more than 400 partners in five countries* *England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. OBJECTIVES: To drive improvements in the health and wellbeing of those living and working in the sector; To encourage those living and working in farming to take concrete actions to improve their attitudes to farming safely in the UK and Ireland; To highlight, not only the excessive numbers suffering fatal injuries and accidents on UK & Ireland farms but the dangers of ignoring near misses at work; To signpost farmers and farm workers to the resources available to help improve farm safety; and To shine a light on Farm Safety Heroes who are working to drive a positive change in the industry #FarmSafetyWeek Farm Safety Foundation - Yellow Wellies #IAgrM

HUNGER CAN'T WAIT — The Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina - an Action Pathways Inc. program - has introduced a farmer's market at its Food Distribution Center in Fayetteville, where those facing hunger can choose fresh produce and meats, and it has been a game-changer. On average, 200 families have taken advantage of the market each time it is open, a testament to the program's success and the community's support. SHFB is committed to expanding these markets to communities in its 7-county service area where the need is urgent. In this service area, 16.7%, or over 130,000 individuals, are food insecure. The call seeks innovative proposals to maximise the return to primary producers from short supply chains. The maximum amount of grant aid available under the call is €150,000 per project. There are five different themes to the call, namely: • developing premium markets closer to home; • encouraging collaboration among stakeholders; • supporting small food producers; • encouraging farmers markets and • the development of community gardens.
