As we head into the break - Some light AI related dystopian holiday reading? I don't usually recommend books but this is actually this is very well written, very considered and important. Suleyman has couched this as the latest of a series of waves over time - the opportunities (and risks) are there for the taking - but the biggest challenge now is what he refers to as 'containment' for two areas of tech. He expounds on difficulties now on containing both AI and DNA synthesis (and other biotech advancements) - with the genie being pretty much out of the bottle already. Both have enormous potential up (and down) sides. To this I would add one thing - 6G. Think about it - at 24 frames per second we perceive the illusion of motion. Once we approach 6G speeds the IOT (the Internet of Things) will become a reality and there will be no blur and no buffering. Combine the three of these into one wave and it could be an interesting ride.
