We don’t think you have to choose between donating smart and donating with your heart. Many people want to help end factory farming. However, the organizations that do the most to prevent the suffering of farmed animals often lack visibility and don’t always provide the same ‘fuzzy feeling’ as donating to, for example, your local shelter. FarmKind bridges this gap. We collaborate with experts to identify the most effective charities combating factory farming’s impact on animals and the planet. FarmKind enables users to split their donations between these expert-recommended, highly effective charities and their personal favorite causes. We provide a bonus on both types of donations, allowing donors to do the most good to combat factory farming while supporting causes close to their hearts. Our approach is inspired by Giving Multiplier. The work of the founders, Prof. Joshua Greene and Dr. Lucius Caviola, is really exciting. It suggests that this approach could not only significantly increase donations to truly effective charities but also lead people to feel both smarter and more empathetic about their donations. On May 13, the biggest CSR challenge at NATEK - Activity for Charity - started 🧡. 132 Participants, forming 23 Teams, registered to participate in this year's edition. For comparison, in 2022, 122 Participants registered for the challenge and in 2024, 124 Participants. As you can see, the number of interested Participants increases every year 🤩! The previous 2 editions were held in autumn, but at the request of Participants, this year's edition is held in spring 🌿. Therefore there are also extra tasks in the area of ecology - one of the 1st is plogging 🗑️. Currently, Participants are exactly halfway through the challenge and they're one step away from reaching their 1st charitable goal target 💪. I would like to remind you that in addition to taking care of their well-being and the environment, they mainly care about helping those in need by covering kilometers for them. A challenging year of fieldwork on this project, but nonetheless one of progress as we continue to increase our monitoring of Lappet-faced Vulture nesting trees in Kruger National Park. These huge vultures (the biggest in Africa) not only face the threat of poisoning as with all vultures, they also are having their nesting trees knocked over by elephants. While elephants have always knocked trees over, typically they do so to feed on the canopy, but what is interesting and mysterious in the cases of the Lappet-faced Vulture nesting trees is they do not touch the tree once they have knocked it over. With 30-40 nesting trees in the park (which is around the same size as Wales!), it’s a race against time to protect them and their population in Kruger. #vultureconservation #conservation #ecology
