Three months ago, I jumped into a consulting role with Party City shortly after Troy Dunmire became Chief Stores Officer. I thought it’d be temporary. I was wrong. Working with Troy again and seeing the potential at Party City pulled me in fast. This brand has serious momentum, and I couldn’t stay on the sidelines. Making it permanent was the only choice. Or, as Al Pacino’s famous Godfather line goes, ‘Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.’ Troy isn’t just any leader. When I wrote The Retail Leaders Roadmap, I highlighted an experience with him that shaped me: He was the first leader to give feedback with brutal honesty, while admitting he might be wrong—that it was up to me to take it or leave it based on my own discernment. No hand-holding, just his take, grounded in his experience. That level of candor shaped me. I used to be the guy who needed to be 100% prepared for everything—no surprises, homework done, every box checked. Troy threw me straight into situations with zero notice. Why? Because I needed the reps, the unfiltered moments, to truly grow. It wasn’t about perfection; it was about building real confidence through real experience. Now, I’m ready to team up with Troy again and a phenomenal group of teammates Doug Braun Mark Motley Vanessa Gonzalez Guzman Ryan Heath Chris Richardson and more to create unforgettable celebration experiences for millions of consumers. This is where the fun starts. My Party City journey isn’t just about the incredible work with Troy and my teammates. Outside of my Party City circle, my commitment to supporting leaders and sharing insights remains strong. Writing, speaking, and empowering others to grow is what fuels me—early mornings, late nights, and all. I’m dedicated to driving productivity and growth globally. This transition? It’s my hands-on case study, creating the conditions for me to continue evolving The Retail Leaders Roadmap—rolling up my sleeves, getting in the trenches, and building on what works. #getupandgo If you find my content useful, repost with your friends and help grow this Wellwisher Community. When was the last time your employer thanked you for your hard work? Davy Shanko and I were asked to join JK Moving Services' & CapRelo's executive team meeting today. When we arrived Chuck Kuhn let us know that they simply wanted to thank us for the difference our work is making for the organization. Wow. Can we talk about how good that feels and how important it is? When employees are recognized it: ✨ Boosts morale. (I'm flying high this morning.) ✨ Creates an environment where employees feel valued and respected. (Is there anything more important?) ✨ Increases productivity! (I'm ready to create more amazing content!) ✨ Promotes employee loyalty. (Feeling appreciated makes you want to stay.) ✨ Encourages innovation. (When employees feel valued, they're more likely to share ideas and contribute creatively.) Beth McNamara thank you so much for your guidance over the past year and your trust in my abilities. Bonus: I'm still learning new things everyday thanks to you. And to all the employers who take the time to say "thank you" to their teams: your acknowledgment means the world to us! Barry Morris, David Cox, Andrea Bunch, Paul McCullough and thanks for taking the photo Jeff Parker #Leadership #EmployeeAppreciation #JKMoving

My title changed today at McGuff Companies... Titles have never been a point for me. I’ve always believed it’s about who you are and the impact you make, not what a title says. I’m just one person working to make a difference, finding solutions, empowering others, and building a sense of team—because, ultimately, our goal is to get a little better each day. Titles feel like fluff and noise to me, and maybe that sounds naive, especially with my name on the front door, but it’s who I am and have been. In the Marine Corps, rank didn’t define respect for me; the person did. We were all in it together, on the same team, working toward a common mission. No one person's contribution is more or less than the next. That’s how I view things here, too. No matter what my title is, I’d still be here every day, leading with the same goals in mind. The biggest reward isn’t the title; it’s the smiles I see when I walk into a room full of teammates. Those smiles—even in the thick of challenges—mean the world to me. It’s because of the hard work, dedication, and resilience of these amazing teams that this title change happened, not because of anything else or that I did. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to my teams both current and past for making this journey worthwhile. Y'all built and shaped me and I’m proud to be in it with all of you. #ChooseMcGuff #LeadershipNotes #Leadership #Teamwork #Titles #Promotion #Vision

Outwork Expectations, Outshine Peers, Outearn Everyone There’s a story about a storeowner who kept an eye on a teenager making deliveries for one of his suppliers. She was a machine - always hustling, going the extra mile, never late, no excuses. Every time, she owned the job like it was her own business. Impressed, the storeowner told his manager, “That kid’s gonna get a raise.” The manager asked, “Should we call her boss to suggest it?” The storeowner grinned, “No need. Either her boss will give her a raise, or I’ll hire her for more.” Be that kid. Break the mold. Don’t just meet expectations - obliterate them. Whether you’re running deliveries or managing major projects, elevate your game. Make your work faster, smarter, more productive, and yes - more fun. When you make yourself indispensable, the opportunities won’t just come from inside your current role. They’ll knock from every direction. Push past the norm. Be the one they can’t afford to lose. #leadership #careeradvancement #workethic #beindispensable #breakthemold

There’s no magic formula for success, just good old fashioned hard work and a commitment to excellence. Look at Oprah. She didn’t rise to the top by looking for shortcuts; she put in the hours, stayed consistent, and never gave up on her dreams. It’s about finding the RIGHT path, dedicating yourself to being the best at what you do, and letting your passion lead the way. Success doesn’t come overnight, but when you put in the work, it’s always worth it. What’s one step you’re taking today to get closer to your goals? 💪 #HardWorkPaysOff #Inspiration #Leadership #KeepGoing

Starbucks’ new CEO, Brian Niccol, swears by this classic career advice: 'Believe in yourself.' The advice to “believe in yourself,” as simple and clichéd as it may sound, resonates because it underscores the power of confidence and grit. I agree with this approach, as trusting my instincts has been crucial in overcoming challenges and staying focused. Self-belief helps to maintain momentum, even when things don’t go as planned, allowing us to push forward toward success. #CareerAdvice #Leadership #StarbucksCEO #BelieveInYourself
