https://lnkd.in/gSX_8EZY Isn't there something about those who forget history being doomed to repeat it? Or is this less about forgetting and more about refocusing? In which case perhaps the symbolic targets aren't quite right. Not a great fan of arbitrary percentages of GDP for specific areas of government spending either, especially as in this case apparently with no analysis of why. More symbolism? Update. I have just noted a recent detailed survey of British public attitudes relating to defence expenditure. As part of the analysis comparisons with other government sectors were made. Diplomacy and overseas aid as a sector was at the top of areas for which funding could be cut. Details available if wanted.

Another proof how this Pashinoghlu regime has REVERSED what we as a nation and government had established during the 100th. anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in 2015! ++++++++++++++++ During a National Assembly session on Armenia’s 2025 budget, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced that international recognition of the Armenian Genocide is currently not a priority on Armenia’s foreign policy agenda. Mirzoyan emphasized that “the tragic pages of history should be studied by historians,” signaling a shift in focus for Armenia’s diplomatic objectives. This position addresses a long-standing point of contention, as Turkey has frequently cited Armenia’s pursuit of genocide recognition as a barrier to establishing formal diplomatic relations.

'Three years after Independence, the sibling nations had managed to survive the disruptions of Partition, refugees, the Kashmir conflict, and a befuddling start to a decoupling process. Their domestic political trajectories—as also rapid global realignments—were now influencing their diplomacy. India had rapidly written its new Constitution, after its Constituent Assembly robustly debated its expansive provisions, drawing from the best global experiences in democracy.' #Lithuania’s 🇱🇹 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, debated the future of #EU 🇪🇺 enlargement with European Parliament's MEPs on the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In his speech, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy also emphasized that the EU enlargement was an important investment into security, stability and peace. Landsbergis also drew ➡️ the attention of MEPs to the fact that the EU enlargement was once again becoming a moving target and a tool for some of the EU member states, or their political actors, to solve their outstanding bilateral issues with candidate countries. 💬 “The enlargement process should be objective and merit-based. We must be objective while pursuing it. The first issue is that new “homework” elements are being added on the way, and some old “skeletons” reappear repeatedly and are being brought to daylight at the very last minute. It resembles blackmail, despite Ukraine’s openness to solve objectively existing issues,” said Landsbergis. Watch the full remarks of the Foreign Minister - link below in the comments.
