Simon Squibb's outlook on life and business feels like a new era I can get behind, and here's why... Many of us have looked at business through the lens of a time that no longer exists. "People do business with people" feels almost entirely forgotten about. The scariest aspect of starting Hear Me Out has been that our model relies quite heavily on solid ongoing relationships - few not many. This isn't too dissimilar to my previous world producing music with artists because ultimately the purpose of wanting to work with them was to form a relationship that would last years... So what was the difference? They felt like genuine relationships where the 'relationship' was the top priority for both parties. Without it, we weren't interested in working together and in songwriting and producing the outcome just wouldn't have been top notch. I feel like it's much harder to create those kinds of relationships in the corporate world because generally it feels like only our side has wanted to build the relationship and the other side just wants the win (whatever that looks like for them). I get life is much busier in the corporate world but it build relationships just doesn't seem like a priority I have felt from the other side, on the whole. Simon's idea of having the cash or the client is a brilliant exercise, but one thing he doesn't mention is it will take everything you have to stick to it and power through all the failed attempts at building a relationship. If you're an emotional type person, it's hard! It's like dating through an App where you can feel a lot of groundhog days starting a new conversation! However, when you build those relationships, the career and journey you have from those points forward are absolutely worth consciously celebrating and enjoying, together. I love Simon's honesty and perspective on how we need to shake up the status quo. We've been lucky enough to have been working with him on his Sonic Branding this last couple of months, and it's almost ready to go out to his 9 million followers 🙌🏼 But what I've enjoyed the most is far beyond the Sonic Branding, it's been getting to know the team. Luke Moseley and I are really looking forward to an onward journey with him and his team! More to come.... 😁
£100,000 or 1 client? If you picked the money, you won’t make it. The saying: "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for life." Couldn't be more true. I’ve seen many businesses fail, and 90% of the time, it’s because they chased short-term cash. Delayed gratification is what you need. Focus on building your skillset and reputation, because that’s something you’ll have for life and it will earn you far more than £100k.

If you’re aiming to navigate the competitive landscape of government contracts successfully, ensuring your business ticks every box in the credibility checklist is non-negotiable. Here’s what you need to have in place: 1. Business Name: Your identity in the marketplace. 2. Business Address: A verifiable location, anchoring your business in reality. 3. Business Entity: Proper legal structure (LLC, Corp, etc.), critical for legal and tax purposes. 4. EIN Number: Your business’s social security number, essential for taxes. 5. Phone Number: A dedicated line, ensuring accessibility. 6. Business Email: Professionalism in every communication. 7. Professional Voicemail: First impressions count, even in your absence. 8. 411 Listing: Enhances your visibility and legitimacy. 9. Business Banking: Separates your personal and business finances, a must for financial health. 10. DUNS Number: A unique nine-digit identifier for businesses. 11. Logo: The visual cornerstone of your brand identity. 12. Website: Your digital storefront, open 24/7. 13. SAM Registration/UEI/CAGE Code: Keys to the kingdom of government contracting. 14. Business Insurance (liability at minimum): Protects your business and demonstrates responsibility. Skipping even one of these essentials can place you at a significant disadvantage. It’s not just about being qualified; it’s about presenting your business as credible, prepared, and professional - ready to handle the responsibilities and opportunities that government contracts offer. Clara Decides To Grow With Growthsy Case story continued: Inspired by a foreign entrepreneur and her own desire to expand, Clara seeks to formalize her beauty and skincare business. Her goals include securing grants, government loans, and moving beyond subsistence level. Unsure of the registration process, she turns to Growthsy Company Limited for guidance. Growthsy to the Rescue: Growthsy explains the advantages of registering Clara's business with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC): Building Legitimacy: Registering a Business Name grants legal recognition to Clara's brand. Professionalism with a Dedicated Bank Account: CAC registration allows Clara to open a separate business bank account. This not only fosters professionalism but also simplifies financial tracking, building trust with customers and partners. Choosing the Right Business Structure: Business Name: This is a good starting point for smaller businesses. It's faster and easier to register, but offers less protection from personal liability. Limited Liability Company (LLC): This offers a stronger separation between Clara's personal assets and the business's liabilities. It's suitable for businesses with high growth potential or seeking investor funding. The Companies and Allied Matters Act has made provision for registering a small company with one director. Hence the entry barrier for this type of registration has dropped. Growthsy Walks Her Through the CAC Online Process: The steps involved in registering a Business Name through the CAC online portal: 1. Name Availability Check: Clara can check if her desired business name is available using the CAC portal. Growthsy can assist with this step. 2. Form Completion: An online form needs to be filled out, including details like the business name, address, and proposed business activities. 3. Filing Fees: There are associated filing fees, which Growthsy can clarify based on current rates. 4. Document Submission: Required documents include a passport photo for Clara (and any other business owners) , address, Personal Identifiable Information of Business Owners (Valid ID card, Names, Emails, Phone numbers, Signature) a witness in the case of a Limited Liability company, and share distribution in the case of a limited liability company. 5. Approval & Issuance of Certificate: Upon approval, Clara receives a certificate confirming her business name registration. Addressing Potential Challenges: Choosing a Unique Name: Growthsy can help Clara brainstorm unique names and conduct thorough availability checks to avoid delays. Navigating the Online System: Growthsy offers assistance with navigating the CAC online portal, ensuring a smooth and error-free registration process. #corporatecompliance
