Silicon Valley leaders all in on the artificial-intelligence boom have a message for critics: Their technology has not hit a wall. A fierce debate over whether improvements in AI models have hit their limit has taken hold in recent weeks, forcing several CEOs to respond. OpenAI's boss, Sam Altman, was among the first to speak out, posting on X this month that "there is no wall." Dario Amodei, CEO of the rival firm Anthropic, and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, have also disputed reports that AI progress has slowed. Others, including Marc Andreessen, say AI models aren't getting noticeably better and are all converging to perform at roughly similar levels. Business Insider spoke with 12 people at the forefront of the AI industry, including startup founders, investors, and current and former insiders at Google DeepMind and OpenAI, about the challenges and opportunities ahead in the quest for superintelligent AI. Together, they said that tapping into new types of data, building reasoning into systems, and creating smaller but more specialized models were some of the ways to keep the wheels of AI progress turning. Moore's law is dying out, with Moore himself predicting its end by the late 2020s/early 2030s, and quantum computing will most certainly face Heisenberg's uncertainty principle - all that to say that there are computational barriers to AI's exponential growth. On top of that, power consumption is another consideration. Unless AGI is already here and no one told us, it'll only get more challenging to get there. Current AI is just a really big tree of "if X then Y" branches.
There may not be a "wall", but this "GenAI" is likely going to be just another commodity - like a computer and pork belly are a commodity, meaning no single provider has monopoly of its market! 😀 #AI #GenAI #commodity #business #science #technology

3mo#AI is just getting started , #GenAI is getting started , I think overall industry just started scratching the surface of new AI based business possibilities . When OpenAI or Anthropic comes to the picture they have developed fantastic tool. However the overall Business and Industry is yet to realize the advantages that these AI tools provide in building applications and products of #AIEra which is quite exciting.
