Buy Me Once’s Post

This question has agonised me for years. As an ethical business owner, is there a good answer? 🌍 Is it possible to be an ethical brand and still participate in the Black Friday moment? 🌍 I'd really like your thoughts on this... My instinct is that more affordable products aren't wrong in themselves, but the impulse buying frenzy of waste should be avoided at all costs. So our attempt to make Black Friday more thoughtful and less impulsive is called "Chosen By You". Instead of pushing deals, we ask people to vote upfront for what they actually need, and then if we can, we discount those items. The idea is to make everything much more intentional, but still make our products accessible and compete as a business at a key selling period. What do you think? Would you handle it differently? #BlackFriday #

Love this reflection Buy Me Once, super interesting, and love the idea of voting on the products you need but can't necessarily usually afford! I actually did a post about this on instagram last year (will find and share), but basically the TLDR: - Black Friday on throwaway products are bad - However, ethical products are more expensive anyway (even outside of BF discounts) - Often a lot of the ethical products are refillable with the refills being cheaper for the buyer and better for the planet - So discount the initial products (ie the Wild case, or the OceanSaver bottle) and then keep the refills full price That was you get more people in the movement, regardless of background or financial situation! 💪🏻
