In the prototyping phase, waiting for parts can significantly slow down projects and disrupt momentum. Whether due to broken components or changes in project requirements, mechanical part replacements are often necessary throughout a project’s lifespan. The time spent sourcing, ordering, and waiting for the part to arrive is why we leverage in-house 3D printing. 3D printing mechanical parts allows for fast iterations, often several iterations in a day. This advantage allows work to continue without hesitation and hones in the specifications of the mechanical. While 3D printing isn’t a viable solution for every part, thoughtful selection of parts to 3D print helps keep our client’s projects on time and facilitates rapid feedback during the design process.

👀🌟Let's check out the process of CNC machining and 3D printing. 🔥Have you noticed the difference between these two processing ways? CNC machining can be used to create high-precision prototypes through cutting the extra materials by the custom cutters;3D printing can be used to produce functional and complex prototypes through printing layer by layer. 3D printing is an additive technique that allows manufacturers to create parts with complex designs and unique geometries without the need for material removal. Features like fillets for stress relief are often unnecessary, and sharp corners and enclosed cavities can be easily achieved. If you're considering a switch from 3D printing to CNC machining for cost and time savings, keep in mind the limitations of traditional processes. Feel free to reach out if you have any recent 3D printing projects! #3dprinting #prototype

Machining Vs 3D printing? By popular request, here is a video of last week's prototype part. At this stage it had just been roughed and still needed finishing on all surfaces, but you can still see the complexity. There have been several questions about choosing to machine from solid billet over other methods, including 3D printing. Machining from solid was chosen as it gave the closest final material properties to the diecast version. We also turned this part around within two weeks from initial enquiry to delivery of product. As we don't currently have metal 3D printing capability in-house, it's our belief that to print a part of this complexity wouldn't be time or cost-effective and means we couldn't guarantee the material properties the customer required for the finished prototype. We'd be interested to hear thoughts and suggestions from companies who have successfully done this. #aerospace #3dprinting #metalprinting #automotive #cncmachining #prototype

Digital -> Physical The Womp team continues to amaze me. Watching five distinct "departments"—3D graphics, frontend, product design, backend, and now object fulfillment—come together to deliver this in record time was nothing short of remarkable. We believe 3D has barely scratched the surface of its potential. Unlike 2D, which has been democratized for decades, 3D remains locked behind complex tools and steep learning curves. At Womp, we’re changing that by creating a future where anyone can bring the ideas in their mind to life—turning them into physical objects that solve problems or meet their unique needs. Whether it’s creating interactive experiences, or unlocking entirely new ways to think about rendering, animation, gaming, and now object making - 3D should be for everyone. This recent milestone is a small piece of a much bigger vision: empowering people to transform their ideas into physical reality, and revolutionize CAD and manufacturing forever. This is just the start, and there’s so much more ahead. Stay tuned! and thank you to my amazing team at Womp for such an amazing milestone! Special shout out to Yunzhi Bian, Sarah Oh, Hadryan Salles, Kushagra Dhawan, Anuj Verma, Gopi Krishna Aditya Ganta, Praneeth Potnuru!

A lot of product design these days is done with 3D printing in mind because that is the go to choice for prototyping. But designs made with primarily 3D printing in mind are rarely straight up compatible with injection mold making part design needs. The question you want answered early on in your product development process is...do I need to change my part design a little bit, a lot, or in worst case scenario completely rethink the design? If you are not sure how your current 3D printing part design stacks up to injection mold making needs reach out to our team at info@JadeMolds.com. We will help you qualify your existing part design and guide you to the big or small design changes needed to make your part design compatible with injection mold making. #MoldMaking #InjectionMoulding #InjectionMolding #MechanicalEngineering #Plastics #Manufacturing #Offshore #Production #Technology #Moldex3D
